3、ust be admitted by a Physician Medical, Non Hospital Detoxification Community based / Social detox centers Admission procedures vary Length of stay in detox. programs depends upon substances being used and insurance providers,5,Detoxification,Medications administered most frequently for withdrawal i

7、tpatient Care: Preferred method of Insurance providers due to reduced costs Preferred method for: Single parents People with limited resources Those who cant afford to be away from their job for a long period of time Others who can safely continue to function at home and in the community Typical pro
8、gram runs three or four nights a week for two to twelve weeks,9,Intensive Treatment (Cont.),Day Treatment: Another type of Intensive Outpatient Program Generally lasts longer than other intensive treatment programs Often used by clients with co-occurring disorders, physical impairments, or substanti
9、al cognitive impairments that require a longer period of rehabilitation Services are similar to those provided by most inpatient programs,10,Residential Programs,Halfway Houses A transitional place of indefinite residence Residents must abstain from alcohol & drugs Structure and services vary Size a
10、nd credentials of staff also varies Many have resident or community government Fees are usually relatively modest compared to other alternatives A few are designed for women with children,11,Residential Programs (Cont.),Therapeutic Communities (TCs) Designed to treat addicts who abused heroin or oth
11、er illegal drugs TC staff are often addicts with a substantial period of recovery Generally provide a combination of intensive treatment and residential care Lengths of stay range from a couple of months to two years Tend to use high confrontation group process and peer pressure Residents earn privi
12、leges as they progress,12,Residential Programs (Cont.),Domiciliaries: A type of residential facility designed to assist those with severe physical or mental debilitation resulting from substance abuse Provides an opportunity for residents to achieve a substantial period of recovery before moving to
13、a Halfway House Usually have 24 hour staff supervision Often referred to as farms Care is mostly custodial with some group therapy,13,Residential Programs (Cont.),Missions and Shelters: Assist those who are homeless, transient, or living on the street A few of them could be classified as Halfway Hou
14、ses due to their relatively long 30 to 90 day periods of stay, but most are more like a shelter with “Three hots & a cot” A religious program is generally a component of services. Many require individuals to leave the premises after breakfast and dont allow them to return until evening check in time
