A cataloger may need to make fine distinctions between

Current character sets supported for cataloging are: Arabic, Bengali, Chinese, Cyrillic, Devanagari, Greek, Hebrew, Japanese, Korean, Latin, Tamil, and Thai

When using an existing record for copy cataloging do not change the language of cataloging if upgrading the Master Record unless the language of cataloging coded in field 040 subfield $b does not accurately reflect the actual language of the cataloging
