Scope1.1 This specification2covers high-tensile strength carbon-manganese steel plates intended for we

3、lded pressure vessels.1.2 This steel is usually made to a semi-killed or cappeddeoxidation practice; however, at the purchasers or the steelproducers option, the steel may be made silicon-killed oraluminum-killed.1.3 The maximum thickness of plates furnished under thisspecification shall be34 in. 20

4、 mm.1.4 For plates produced from coil and furnished withoutheat treatment or with stress relieving only, the additionalrequirements, including additional testing requirements and thereporting of additional test results, of Specification A20/A20Mapply.1.5 The values stated in either inch-pound units

5、or SI unitsare to be regarded separately as standard. Within the text, theSI units are shown in brackets. The values stated in eachsystem are not exact equivalents; therefore, each system mustbe used independently of the other. Combining values from thetwo systems may result in nonconformance with t

General Requirements and Ordering Information3.1 Material supplied to this material specification shallconform to Specification A

8、20/A20M. These requirements out-line the testing and retesting methods and procedures, permit-ted variations in dimensions, and mass, quality and repair ofdefects, marking, loading, and ordering information.3.2 In addition to the basic requirements of thisspecification, certain supplementary require

9、ments are availablewhen additional control, testing, or examination is required tomeet end use requirements. The purchaser is referred to thelisted supplementary requirements in this specification and tothe detailed requirements in Specification A20/A20M.3.3 Coils are excluded from qualification to

10、this specifica-tion until they are processed into finished plates. Platesproduced from coil means plates that have been cut toindividual lengths from coil. The processor directly controls, oris responsible for, the operations involved in the processing ofcoils into finished plates. Such operations i

11、nclude decoiling,leveling, cutting to length, testing, inspection, conditioning,heat treatment (if applicable), packaging, marking, loading forshipment, and certification.NOTE 1For plates produced from coil and furnished without heattreatment or with stress relieving only, three test results are rep

12、orted foreach qualifying coil. Additional requirements regarding plates from coilare described in Specification A20/A20M.3.4 If the requirements of this specification are in conflictwith the requirements of Specification A20/A20M, the require-ments of this specification shall prevail.4.
