Introduction In most instances in this part of SANS 1261, no requirements are specified for fibre content or structural details such as mass per ar

8、ea, threads per length, weave, or knit structures, although it is recognized that these properties will largely determine the essential character and the aesthetic appeal of a fabric. Setting these properties outside the scope of this part of SANS 1261 has been deliberate in order to allow the wides

9、t possible application of the standard and the greatest flexibility of manufacture. The main purpose is to provide a standard that will accommodate the prevailing retail demands for textiles while at the same time ensuring that these textiles will be acceptable in respect of their basic performance

10、properties (for example, strength, dimensional stability and colour fastness). The emphasis throughout is on these basic properties. Frequently made claims pertaining to retail textile household piece-goods and articles (such as “crease resistant“, “fully shrunk“ and “7-year quality“) are not covere

11、d by the range of tests specified, and compliance with the requirements in this part of SANS 1261 cannot be taken as a substantiation of such claims. 32、ensional changes on laundering 4.1 General requirements 4.1.1 The relevant general requirements for woven textile piece-goods, or for the workmanship of made-up woven textile household articles (as appropriate) of SANS 1270 shall apply. 4.1.2 SANS 1270 also specifies requirements for the make-up of

33、certain types of household articles. These requirements are not mandatory in terms of this part of SANS 1261, but compliance with them may be specified in an order or contract. NOTE Guidance on the verification of the quality of retail textile household piece-goods and articles is given in annex A.

34、4.2 Breaking strength, dimensional changes and seaming properties Unless otherwise stated, the requirements given shall apply equally to both warp (length) direction and weft (width) direction, and in the case of seaming properties, and, unless inconsistent with the text, both before and after washi

35、ng or dry cleaning, as relevant. 4.3 Colour fastness 4.3.1 The values specified shall be the minimum numerical ratings, determined in accordance with the relevant test method and, unless otherwise stated, the requirements shall apply to dyed or printed fabrics only. 4.3.2 Where provisions are made f

36、or both washing and dry-cleaning properties, the fabric should be tested as washable or dry cleanable (or both), according to the manufacturers recommendation. 4.4 Method of test for dimensional changes on laundering Unless otherwise stated, use drying procedure A of SANS 11167:2005 in all cases.
