SCOPE 1.1 Scope. -This specification covers combination barrel or drum trucks and drain racks, equipped with steel wheels and removable double handles, Combination trucks and drai

2、n racks are for use in transporting or draining drums or barrels of liquid chemicals or petroleum products where rugged design is required to insure safe, efficient, and economical operation under extended service conditions. 1. 2 Classification, -Combination trucks and drain racks shall be of the f

3、ollowing type, as specified in the contract or order: Type-Truck, hand, 2 wheel, combination truck and rack, drain, 55 gallon drum and barrel, double handle, 1 drum capacity, all metal construction, approximate weight 90 pounds. 2. 18、on trucks and drain racks shall be fabricated in accordance with the design and construction characteristics as specified in this specification and Figure 1. Combination trucks and drain racks shall consist of structural steel frame, cross braces, nose pieces, pipe handle, axle, and wheels. The fram

19、e, related structures, and all their joints shall provide a rigid unit structure. Completed com- bination trucks and drain racks shall be capable of withstanding, without permanent deformation, stresses induced by capacity loads and tests as specified in Section 4. 3.2.2 Frame. -The frame shall be f

20、abricated from commercial grade, structural steel angles and black steel pipe, as shown in Figure I. The frame and cross braces shall be made from 1 112 by 1 1/2 by 3/16 inch angles. 26、3.2.5 Axles and spacers. -Each combination truck and drain rack shall be provided with a 3/4 inch diameter, cold rolled steel axle, 17 inches long, and a 3/4 inch diameter, black steel spacer or sleeve, of a length sufficient to retain the wheels approximately 11 3/8 inches apart on centers, Axles,

27、and frame legs adjacent to them, shall have 3/16 inch diameter holes drilled in them to accommodate 1/8 inch diameter cotter pins. 3.2.6 Wheels. -Each combination truck and drain rack shall be pro- vided with two, 8 inch diameter by 2 inch tread, one piece, semi-steel wheels, equipped with commercia

29、 be required. 3.4 Performance 3.4.1 Maximum load. -The combination truck and drain rack shall show no permanent deformation or failure following a static test under 200 percent of rated load, or 1,800 pounds, for a period of 1 hour. 3.5 Other requirements 3.5. 1 Bearings. -Bearing load capacity, inc

30、luding applicable safety factors, as rated by the bearing manufacturer, shall be equal to or greater than maximum bearing loading under normal truck and drain rack operation, 3.5.2 Grease fittings. -Grease fittings shall conform to the manu- facturers normal commercial practice, 3.5. 3 Steel fabrica

31、tion. -All edges shall be smooth, rounded, and free from burrs or jagged edges, 3.5.4 Welds, -Welded joints shall be sound; smooth; free from pits, holes, fissures, and rough projecting edges; and shall be thoroughly fused to the base metal. All joints shall be welded with 3/16 inch fillet welds aro

37、tic shipment (storage) or overseas shipment, -Clean- ing and preservation shall be in accordance with Specification MIL-P- 116 as applicable. The contractor guarantees that at the time of delivery thereof the article provided for under this contract will be free from any defects in material, or faulty workmanship, or improper design, and will conform to the requirements of this con

46、tract. If the Govern- ment discovers any such defects or nonconformance within a period of one year after delivery, it may require the contractor (i) to correct or replace (as designated by the Contracting Officer) the defective or non- conforming articles or part thereof; or (2) to repay such porti

47、on of the contract price as is equitable in the circumstances.
