SCOPE: This specification defines the performance requirements of a painted finish required for tractor part

Three levels of performance are defined as follows: ESN-M2P85-A For parts which are primarily visible and are subject to severe weathering or corrosion or are required to be functional over a long period of time. ESN-M2P86-A For parts which are subject to less severe weathering, corrosion or func

4、tional requirements. ESN-M2P87-A For parts which are primarily hidden but which require moderate weather corrosion resistance. 2. APPLICATION: This specification was released originally for a finish primarily intended for painted tractor parts procured from vendors. Three quality levels provide flex

5、ibility of application and are specified depending on use and exposure resistance required. It is not the intent of this specification to describe paint systems needed to meet the requirements of this specification. This is a vendor responsibility. 3. REQUIREMENTS: 3.1 FILM PROPERTIES 3.1.1 Initial

6、Hardness Shall be sufficiently cured at time of packing to withstand normal handling and shipping without marring. 3.1.2 Final Hardness (After aging 72 h or more above 21 C) Sward Rocker 28 - 40 at 25 C Pencil 3 B - H at 25 C 3.1.3 Adhesion No flaking or chipping. 8、fined as (a) blistering in any area or (2) corrosion creepage or loss of adhesion more than 1/8 in (3.2 mm) from scratches, scar marks, or sharp edges. 3.2.1.2 Parts tested need not be scribed but shall be representative of production paint system. 3.3 SUPPLIERS RESPONSIBILITY Material supplied to t

9、his specification must be equivalent to that originally approved. Changes in formulation or processing shall not be made without prior approval as described in Supplier Procedure I-A. 4. APPROVAL OF SUPPLIERS: Suppliers to this specification must be approved by the affected product engineering offic

10、e. Procedure for gaining approval of a specific material to a new/existing ES-M specification is contained in Supplier Procedure I-A. Approved new suppliers will be added to the Engineering Materials Approved Source List. 5. GENERAL INFORMATION: This information is for direction of the user and is n

11、ot a requirement for the supplier. Vendor procured painted tractor parts shall be referenced on the appropriate CH-N499 Paint, Color, and Performance Chart as to color and performance required. The color coat on vendor procured parts shall be from an approved source as shown on the appropriate CH-704 chart or the Corporate Engineering Materials Approved Source List.
