Abstract. This Commercial Item Description covers

2、the requirements for one type of rain hood with visor in one universal size. The hood is intended to be worn by female personnel of the Department of the Air Force. Salient Characteristics. The rain hood shall be constructed of a laminated nylon cloth, have four pleats, two evenly spaced on each sid

3、e of center back point, with the outside fold of the pleats facing the center back, and have a visor attached to the front of the rain hood. All edges of the hood and visor shall be bound and the ends of the binding shall be trimmed at the points of the hood (see Figure 1). Fiaure. When inconsistenc

The finished cloth shall consi

7、st of the knitted nylon base cloth, laminated on the rib side with a transparent polyethylene film of not less than 0.0001 inch thick. The adhesion of the film to the knit cloth, in the direction of the wales or the courses, shall be not less than 60 grams when tested in accordance with AATCC Test M

8、ethod 136, except that the specimens are not required to be laundered or dry-cleaned prior to testing. The breaking strength in the direction of the wales and in the direction of the courses of the laminated cloth shall be not less than 19 pounds in each direction when tested in accordance with ASTM

9、-D 5034. The knit side of the laminated cloth shall be the outside of the rain hood as worn. Base cloth. a 2-bar tricot machine using a jersey stitch. The knitted cloth shall have a minimum of 30 wales and 32 courses per inch when tested in accordance with ASTM-D 3887. The base cloth shall be white

10、and shall weigh 0.6 to 0.7 ounces per square yard, when tested in accordance with ASTM-D 3887. straight cut 1 inch wide from the base cloth. The base cloth shall be knit with 15-denier nylon on The binding shall be Thread. The thread for all seaming and stitching, shall be white cotton, Ticket No. O

11、 or 00, 3 ply with a minimum breaking strength of 2.1 pounds when tested in accordance with ASTM-D 204. Finished measurement. The finished measurement of the rain hood shall be 14-3/16, 2 1/4 inches when measured with the rain hood folded in half lengthwise and measure from the center back point to

12、the top visor-joining seam. Patterns. The government shall furnish the single size pattern. The pattern generally provides for a seam allowance of 1/4 inch for all seams. A Commercial pattern may be used in lieu of the government furnished pattern provided it conforms to the cited design and finishe

13、d measurement. Workmanship. 14、emonstration Model. When required, offerers shall submit samples of their intended production. The Product Demonstration Model will consist of units independently developed. Product Demonstration Models will be analyzed and evaluated by the government. Evaluation criteria and basis for award are con

15、tained in the solicitation. Product Demonstration Models will be retained by the government. One (I) Product Demonstration Model approved by DPSC under the resultant contract will serve as a manufacturing standard for the corresponding production items delivered under this contract. Offerers are adv

16、ised that the Product Demonstration Model does not relieve the successful offerer of his responsibility to perform in accordance with the Commercial Item Description specified above. Qualitv Assurance Certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characterist

17、ics of this description and that the product conforms to the producers own drawings, specifications, standards and quality assurance practices. The government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to the first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for, under th

18、e provisions of the contract. Reliance on contractor QA systems shall not relieve the contractor of the responsibility of ensuring that all products or supplies submitted to the government for acceptance comply with all requirements of the contract. Examination. Lots of hoods shall be inspected in a

The inspection level for visual examination shall be II and the AQL expressed in terms of defects per hundred units, shall be 2.5 for major defects and 10.0 for total (major and minor combined) defects. The hoods shall be examined for the defects listed below: Classification of visual

23、rt not on outside of rain hood as worn. Any seams twisted, puckered, or stretched, affecting appearance. Needle chew. Tight tension (stitches break when normal strain is applied to lengthwise direction of seam or stitching). Loose tension resulting in a loose- ly secured seam. Any part of rain hood

24、badly pleated at seam line except bottom pleats in back or caught or twisted in any unrelated row of stitching. Unitized loads, placing boxes on pallets, shall be used whenever total quantity for shipment to one destination exceeds 250 pounds (excluding the pallet) or 20 cubic feet. Pallets shall have a length of 40 inches and a width of 48 inches. Pallet loads, including the palle
