CGSB is engaged in the production of voluntary standards in a wide range of subject areas through the

3、 media of standards committees and the consensus process. The standards committees are composed of representatives of relevant interests including producers, consumers and other users, retailers, governments, educational institutions, technical, professional and trade societies; and research and tes

4、ting organizations. Any given standard is developed on the consensus of views expressed by such representatives. The Ministers Advisory Council on CGSB reviews the results of the consensus process. CGSB has been accredited by the Standards Council of Canada as a national standards-writing organizati

5、on. The standards that it develops and offers as National Standards of Canada conform to the criteria and procedures established for this purpose by the Standards Council of Canada. In addition to standards it publishes as national standards, CGSB produces standards to meet particular needs, in resp

6、onse to requests from a variety of sources in both the public and private sectors. Both CGSB standards and national standards developed by CGSB are developed in conformance with the policies described in the Policy Manual for the Development and Maintenance of Standards by CGSB. CGSB standards are s

7、ubject to review and revision at any time, so as to ensure that they keep abreast of technological progress. SCOPE 1.1 This standard applies to general purpose printing bristols and to folding bristols. A standard for permanence of paper is in the course of preparation. General purp

29、ose printing bristols are used for face and back letterpress and offset (lithographic) printing of booklet covers, circulars, annoucements, programs, tickets, etc. Printed matter may include solids and solid reverses, text, line-illustrations and halftones in accordance with its specified surface ro

30、ughness and uniformity. If long-term use is a concern, the standard for permanence of paper should be used. Folding printing bristols are used for face and back letterpress and offset (lithographic) printing of booklet covers, file folders, tags, etc., requiring a high degree of durability. If long-

31、term use is a concern the standard for permanence of paper should be used. The testing and evaluation of a product against this standard may require the use of materials and/or equipment that could be hazardous. 37、.2 5.3 5.4 5.5 5.6 5.7 CLASSIFICATION The paper shall be supplied in the following types as specified: Types Type 1 - Printing bristol, general purpose, standard finish Type 2 - Printing bristol, folding, standard finish. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS Curl - The paper shall lie flat or have no more than a sl

38、ight curl that can be overcome under normal commercial operating conditions and that does not affect its end use. Surface Condition - The paper surface shall be free from blemishes, dust, lint and other particles that may adversely affect its conversion or end use. e Trim - The paper shall be trimme

39、d with clean, smooth edges and shall be evenly jogged. Stock - The paper stock shall normally be free from more than trace amounts (less than 1%) of unbleached or mechanical pulps except that no limitation is imposed on the amount of deinked or non-deinked bleached secondary (recycled) fibre, nor on

40、 the amount of high-yield pulps, present in the stock. Fluorescent (optical) brighteners may be present. Moisture Content - The paper at the time of delivery, shall be in equilibrium with a relative humidity of 45 f 5% and a temperature of 23 f 0.5“C. DETAILED REQUIREMENTS Physical Dimensions - The

41、paper shall be furnished in thesheet sizes specified (par. 8.1). The paper shall not be undersize and not more than 0.2 cm oversize in either direction, except that for sheet sizes 21.5 x 35.5 cm where the paper shall not be undersize and not more than 0.1 cm oversize. Successive sheets within any p

42、ackage shall not differ from one another by more than 0.04 cm. Sheets shall be square on all four sides within a tolerance of 0.1 cm in each 75 cm as determined on a squaring table. The edge bow in individual sheets shall not be more than 0.1 cm in 75 cm, as determined by turning a sheet over, butti

43、ng an edge against the corresponding edge of the sheet below, measuring the gap between them and taking one half of this measurement. Grammage - The paper shall be supplied in the grammage specified (par. 8.1) from the ranges listed in Table 1. Actual grammage shall conform to the specified grammage

44、 within a tolerance of 1546, when determined in accordance with CANKGSB 9.0 No. 7. Thickness - The paper shall conform to the average thickness listed in Table 1, with a tolerance of f13 pm. The difference in average thickness between sheets shall not exceed 5 pm. The difference between the highest

45、and lowest thickness across each sheet shall not exceed 8 pm. Grain Direction - The grain direction, when determined in accordance with CPPA D.l, shall be as specified (par. 8.1). Colour - The paper shall be white or coloured as specified (par. 8.1). The colour and brightness of the paper shall matc

46、h the supplied reference sample visually in accordance with commercial colour matching practice. Hydrogen Ion Concentration (pH) - The pH value of the cold extract of the paper shall not be less than 4.8 when determined in accordance with CPPA G.25P. Physical and Optical Properties - Physical and op

INSPECTION Sampling - Sampling shall be left to the discretion of the inspection authority, unless a specific sampling plan is Testing Surface Roughness - Determine the surface roughness by the Sheffield roughness tester (Note 1). Make a minimum of ten determinations on each side of each sample in accordance with the procedure laid down by the instrument manufacturer. Average the results
