The user of this standard is responsible for judging its suitability for his
3、particular purpose or application. The Canadian General Standards Board develops voluntary standards through standards committees and the consensus process. All relevant interests are invited to be represented on the standards committees, including producers, consumers and other users, retailers, go
4、vernments, educational institutions, technical, professional and trade societies and research and testing organizations. CGSB is recognized by the Standards Council of Canada as a national standards-writing organization. CGSB produces standards to meet particular needs in response to requests from b
5、oth the public and the private sectors. CGSB standards are subject to periodic review to ensure that they keep abreast of technological progress. Suggestions for their improvement, which are alwavs welcome, are brought to the notice of the standards committees concerned. Changes to standards are iss
6、ued either as separate amendment sheets or in new editions of the standards. 7、stem, a federation of independent, aute nomous organizations working towards the further development and improvement of voluntary standardization in the national interest. The principal objects of the Council are to fosterand promotevoluntary standardization as a means of ackancing the national econ
8、omy, benefiting the health, safety and welfare of the public, sisting and protecting the consumer, facilitating domestic and international trade, and furthering international co-operation in the field of standards. A National Standard of Canada is a standard that has been approved by the Standards C
9、ouncil of Canada and one that reflects a reasonable agreement among the views of a number of capable individuals whose collective interests provide to the greatest practicable extent a balance of representation of producers, users, consumers and others with relevant interests, as may be appropriete
10、to the subject in hand. It normally is a standard that is capable of making a significant and timely contribu- tion to the national interest Approval by the Standards Council of Canada indicates that a standard conforms to the criteria and procedures established by the Council. Approval does not ind
11、icate that a review of the technical content of the standard h been made by the Council; this remains the continuing responsibility of the accredited standards-writing organization. Those who have a need to apply standards are encouraged to use National Standards of Canada whenever practicable. Thes
12、e standards are subject to periodic review; therefore, users are cautioned to obtain the latest edition from the organization preparing the standard.
