8、ers railway rolling stock material, is published in the following six parts: Part 1: Specification for axles; Part 2: Specification for wheel centres; Part 3: Specification for monobloc wheels; Part 4: Specification for tyres; Part 5: Specification for steel bars for tyre-retaining rings; Part 6: Sp

9、ecification for wheel-sets for traction and trailing stock.The format of BS 5892 has been revised, with the tolerancing requirements for components moved from Part 6 to the part relevant to the particular component. It has been possible to relax certain of the tolerances for the wheelset assembly. T

10、his part of BS 5892 is related to ISO 1005-7; however, it has not been possible to obtain full equivalence. It is also related to UIC 813.0.BS 5892-1 to BS 5892-4 have also been revised to ensure consistency with the requirements of this part.Product certification. Users of this British Standard are

11、 advised to consider the desirability of third party certification of product conformity with this British Standard based on testing and continuing surveillance, which may be coupled with assessment of a suppliers quality systems against the appropriate part of BS 5750.Enquiries as to the availabili

15、tandards Policy Committee and supersedes BS 5892-6:1980, which is BSIBS 5892-6:19921 ScopeThis part of BS 5892 specifies requirements for the assembly of wheelsets. It includes requirements for the shrink fitting or press fitting of monobloc wheels, wheel centres, wheel centres complete with tyres,

16、axle mounted brake discs, gearwheels, or other components on to the axle. It also includes requirements for fitting tyres on to wheel centres already mounted on the axle.This part of BS 5892 covers wheelsets of the following types.a) Type of axle: 1) Outside or inside journal bearings;2) Cylindrical

17、 wheelseats;3) Plain axle body, or with seats for gear wheels, brake discs, traction motor suspension bearings, etc.b) Type of wheel: 1) Monobloc, rolled and forged;2) Tyred, with rolled tyres and forged/rolled wheel centres.c) Type of axlebox bearing: Plain or roller.d) Type of traction motor beari

19、fied in BS EN 13260.2 DefinitionsFor the purposes of this part of BS 5892 the following definitions apply.2.1 wheelseta complete unit comprising an axle and two complete wheels together with any gear wheels, brake discs, etc., but without axlebox bearings and their end caps, spacers, seals and other

20、 associated fittings2.2 finishedcondition of components which have been machined to the requirements of the relevant part of BS 5892 and/or of the design drawing but requiring further machining to meet the assembly requirementsNOTE This includes the bores of wheels, wheel centre traction gears, brak

21、e discs and the corresponding seats on the axle, the 2.3 ready for assemblycondition of components which have received all machining operations required for assembly3 Information to be supplied by the purchaserThe following information to be supplied by the purchaser in the enquiry and order shall b

22、e fully documented:a) the number of this British Standard, i.e. BS 5892-6;b) a fully dimensioned drawing of the wheelset and the constituent component;c) which of the following types of wheelset is required: 1) locomotive driving wheelsets;2) wheelsets for passenger rolling stock;3) wheelsets for fr

23、eight rolling stock;4) other;d) which of the following maximum operating speeds V is applicable:e) a list of the items comprising the wheelset;f) whether the wheels or wheel centres, and any other items fitted to the wheelset, e.g. brake discs, gearwheels, etc. are to be shrink fitted or press fitte

24、d (see 5.2);g) the method of non-destructive testing of the axle, and the criteria to be used (see 9.4);h) the requirements for protection against corrosion (see 5.7);i) any optional tests required (see 8.1);j) any other special requirements;k) the type of inspection and quality assurance system req

26、s agreement this may also apply to the tread profile.BS 5892-6:19924 Assembly of wheelsets4.1 Constituent components4.1.1 GeneralThe axles, tyres, wheels and wheel centres shall comply in their ready for assembly condition, with BS 5892-1 to BS 5892-5. Other components (e.g. brake discs, gear wheels

27、, etc.) shall be as specified on the relevant drawings.4.1.2 Interference between axle seats and boresFor wheelsets having a seat length (measured on the axle) of between 0.8 and 1.1 times the seat diameter, a hub having a radial thickness of 30 mm or more and a solid axle, the interference shall be

28、 as follows.a) Shrink fitting. The interference between the axle seats and the bores shall be within the range 0.0008 mm to 0.0011 mm per millimetre of wheelseat diameter.b) Press fitting. The interference between the axle seats and the bores shall be within the range 0.0010 mm to 0.0013 mm per mill

29、imetre of wheelseat diameter.For wheelsets having different characteristics, the purchaser shall agree with the manufacturer the interference to be used.4.1.3 Lead-in taperAny lead-in taper for both shrink fitting and press fitting shall be on the axle seat, and not on the bore. The dimensions shall

30、 not exceed 0.4 mm measured on the diameter, and 10 mm measured along the seat.4.2 Wheelsets4.2.1 Mechanical characteristicsFor shrink or other non-press fitted wheels and wheel centres only, there shall be no displacement relative to the axle after application of the proving thrust test (see 9.1).T

32、ts in the plane of the wheel shall be within the limits shown in Table 1.Table 1 Maximum permissible dynamic imbalance4.2.4 Dimensions and tolerancesThe dimensions of the wheel set shall be in accordance with the design drawings, and the tolerances shall be those given in Table 2 (see Figure 1).5 Ma

33、nufacture5.1 Assembly of the wheelset components on the axle5.1.1 Preparatory operationsBefore assembly, the components shall have been prepared and inspected in accordance with 7.2.5.1.2 Assembly of accessory componentsAccessory components shall be assembled in accordance with the suppliers instruc

34、tions.5.1.3 Position of static imbalanceWhen the residual imbalance has been established in accordance with BS 5892-3, the wheels shall be positioned on the axle such that their residual imbalance is in the same orientation relative to the centreline of the axle.Any brake discs fitted shall be posit

37、2.1 Shrink fittingNOTE In order to obtain the full advantages of shrink fitting, it is essential that oil injection grooves are provided.The monobloc wheels or wheel centres shall be heated to a uniform temperature, sufficient to ensure the necessary expansion of the bore to allow it to fit on the s

38、eat on the axle. In no instance shall the temperature exceed 250 C.After removal from the heating area, the bore (or wheel centre) shall be wiped clean with a non-fluffing cloth to remove all oil, grease or other foreign matter. The axle wheelseat shall be clean and free from oil and grease. The whe

39、el (or wheel centre) shall be fitted to the axle in its final position, then allowed to cool in still air until the wheel grips the axle.5.2.2 Press fitting5.2.2.1 At the time of assembly, the monobloc The bore of the wheel, or wheel centre, and the corresponding axle seat shall be coated with a fil

40、m of rape oil, or any other lubricant if specified by the purchaser at the time of enquiry or order see item j) of clause 3.5.2.2.2 The wheel, wheel centre or wheel centre with tyre fitted shall be pressed onto its seat gradually by a hydraulic press, avoiding deformation of the wheelset components

41、and damage to any machined parts, particularly the journals.The press shall be equipped with a calibrated force indication device, permitting the recording of press force as a function of the position on the axle of the wheel being fitted. This recording shall be in indelible ink and to a scale suff

46、itting operation shall be between Pf min and Pf max (in kN).wherePf min= 4.0DPf max= 5.5Dand D is the diameter of the seat (in mm) (see Figure 2).5.2.2.4 Before the application of the press force, the force recorder shall be adjusted to read zero.The force indicated on the press force diagram shall

47、start to increase before the axle wheelseat is entered into the bore of the wheel or wheel centre by 20 mm.The press force diagram shall show the press force increasing gradually and smoothly with displacement of the wheel or wheel centre, until the maximum value, which shall not exceed that specifi

48、ed (Pf max), is attained.NOTE The reduction of press force due to the possible presence of oil injection grooves is permissible.This maximum value, as the pressing-on continues, shall not reduce by more than 50 kN, and this shall not reduce the force to below the minimum specified (Pf min), nor shal

49、l it occur prior to the last 25 mm of displacement.NOTE Figure 2 illustrates this procedure.5.2.3 Other methods of assemblyOther methods of assembly shall be as agreed between the purchaser and the manufacturer see item j) of Clause 3. The manufacturer shall demonstrate that any novel fitting method does not adversely affect the integrity of the wheelset assembly. After assembly, the mechanical resistance of the assembly shall conform to 4.2.1 and 9.1.5.3 Machining and fitting of tyres5.3.1 MachiningThe inside diameter of all ty
