BS3997, Classification of woodworking machines and auxiliary equipment. This BritishStandard, which has been prepared unde
13、r the authority of the Mechanical Engineering Industry Standards Committee, has been based on proposals made by the Machine Tool Trades Association resulting from agreements reached within the European Committee of Woodworking Machinery Manufacturers which consists of representatives from Austria, D
14、enmark, France, Germany, Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the UnitedKingdom. Other parts of this standard are: Part 2: Accuracy tests; Part 3: Machine sizes and capacities (to be prepared). This standard deals with various aspects of woodworking machines, and specifies dimensions a
15、ffecting the interchangeability of the tools fitted to these machines. It has been subdivided into a number of sections, initially two, each dealing with a separate aspect of woodworking machines. It is intended that other sections will follow in due course as the work of the European committee prog
16、resses. Attention is drawn to the fact that the classification numbers quoted in BS3997,“Classification of woodworking machines and auxiliary equipment”, have been used wherever relevant throughout this standard. Attention is also drawn to two other standards dealing with cutting blades used on wood
17、working machines. These are as follows: BS411, Circular saws for woodworking and their attachment. BS. . . ., Woodworking band-saw blades. (In course of preparation.) A British Standard does not purport to include all the necessary provisions of a contract. Users of British Standards are responsible

It consists at presen
20、t of two sections, as indicated below. Further sections will be added at a later date, as international work progresses. Section1 specifies the diameters for the part of the spindles of woodworking machines on which are fitted rotating bored tools. Section2 specifies the dimensions for the slotted c
21、ollars and the part of the spindles on which they are fitted, when used in spindle moulding machines. 1 Spindle diameters for woodworking machines with rotating bored tools 1.1 General This section specifies the diameters of the part of the spindles on which are fitted rotating bored tools, such as
22、cutters for moulding machines and saw blades for circular sawing machines. 1.2 Dimensions The diameters of the part of the spindles on which are fitted the rotating bored tools, shall conform to the dimensions given in Table 1a in millimetres or Table 1b in inches. 1.2.1 The dimensions in parenthese
23、s are non-preferred and their use should be discouraged in new designs. 1.3 Tolerances The tolerance on the spindle diameters shall be to g6, as given in BS1916 1) . 2 Slotted collars and spindles for spindle moulding machines(12.311) 2) 2.1 General This section of the standard specifies the dimensi
24、ons of the slotted collars and that part of the spindles on which they are fitted, when used in spindle moulding machines. The corresponding dimensions of related equipment pieces are included as a guide to those engaged in designing other tooling, for fitting to standard spindles. 2.2 Dimensions Be
