Test Methods (see Note 1)5.1 Breaking StrengthDetermine the breaking strength asdirected in Test Method D5034, using a constant rate ofextension (CRE) tensile

18、 testing machine.NOTE 2If preferred, the use of a constant rate of traverse (CRT)tensile testing machine is permitted. There may be no overall correlationbetween the results obtained with the CRT machine and the CRE machine.Consequently, these two breaking force testers can not be used inter-changea

19、bly. In case of controversy, the CRE method (Test Method D5034)shall prevail.5.2 Resistance to Yarn SlippageDetermine the resistanceto yarn slippage as directed in Test Method D434.5.3 Tearing StrengthDetermine the tearing strength asdirected in Test Method D1424.NOTE 3If preferred, use of Test Meth

20、od D2261 is permitted withexisting requirements as given in this standard. There may be no overallcorrelation between the results obtained with the tongue tear method (TestMethod D2261) and the Elmendorf machine (D1424). Consequently, thesetwo tear testers cannot be used interchangeably. In the case

21、 of controversy,Test Method D1424 shall prevail.5.4 Dimensional Change:5.4.1 Pressing and Finishing During GarmentManufacturingDetermine the dimensional change duringpressing and finishing as directed in AATCC Method 135.5.4.2 LaunderingDetermine the dimensional change afterlaundering as directed in

22、 the applicable procedure in AATCCtest Method 135.5.4.3 DrycleaningDetermine the dimensional change af-ter drycleaning as directed in AATCC Test Method 158.NOTE 4Launderable fabrics are expected normally to be drycleaned,except where all or part of the fabric will not withstand drycleaning. Forexamp

23、le, the fabric could contain a functional finish soluble in the solvent,or the fiber could be degraded by the solvent, which would be the casewith poly (vinyl chloride) fiber. If a fabric would be harmed by ALLmethods of care except for drycleaning, it should be considered Drycleanonly.5.5 Colorfast
