3、inthe fabrication of end items or parts.1. Scope1.1 This specification covers requirements and test methodsfor the material, dimensions, and workmanship, and the prop-erties of extruded and compression molded plate, rod andtubular bar manufactured from thermoplastic polyester.1.2 The properties incl
4、uded in this specification are thoserequired for the compositions covered. Use the classificationsystem given in Section 4 to describe requirements necessaryto identify particular characteristics important to specializedapplications.1.3 This specification allows the use of recycled plastics2(see Sec
5、tion 4).1.4 The values are stated in inch-pound units and areregarded as the standard in all property and dimensional tables.For reference purposes, SI units are also included in Table 1and Table S-TPES only.1.5 The following precautionary caveat pertains only to thetest method portions sections of

Classification and Material4.1 Product shape and size as defined in the applicablepurchase order.4.2 This specification covers product extruded and compres-sion molded as listed in Table S-TPES. 16、ce Specification D4507 or Specifica-tion D5927 callouts where applicable.4.2.1 Categorize the type of thermoplastic polyester shapeproduct by type, grade, and class depending on resin and fillercompositions as defined in Table S-TPES.4.2.2 Use the following sections to categorize each type ofthermop
17、lastic polyester shape into one of several grades:4.2.2.1 Grade 1General PurposeExtruded or compres-sion molded product made using only 100 % virgin thermo-plastic polyester resin.4.2.2.2 Grade 2RecycledExtruded or compressionmolded product made using any amount up to 100 % recycledthermoplastic pol
18、yester plastics.4.3 The type, class and grade is further differentiated basedon dimensional stability (elevated temperature excursion test),Table S-TPES, and dimensional requirements, Tables A and B.4.4 Property Tables:4.4.1 Use Table S-TPES to describe both extruded orcompression molded products.4.
19、4.2 Use Table 1 also to describe extruded or compressionmolded products not included in Table S-TPES via a cellcallout that includes the applicable Table S-TPES thermoplas-tic polyester type and specific properties (Designations 1through 7).4.4.3 To facilitate the incorporation of future or specialm
20、aterials not covered by the Table S-TPES, the “as specified”category (00) for type, class and grade is shown in the tablewith the basic properties to be obtained from Table 1, as theyapply.4.4.4 Reinforcements and Additive MaterialsA symbol(single-letter) will be used for the major reinforcement orc
21、ombination, or both, along with two numbers that indicate thepercentage of addition by mass with the tolerances as tabulatedbelow.
