3、 mixed xylenes, styrene, ortho-xylene, meta-xylene, para-xylene, cumene, ethylbenzene,148.9 to 176.7C and 176.7 to 204.4C aromatic hydrocarbons,and cyclohexane. A method is given for calculating the volumeat 15C from an observed volume at tC. Table 1 lists thedensity in grams per cubic centimetre at
4、 15C for high puritychemicals.1.2 Calculated results shall be rounded off in accordancewith the rounding-off method of Practice E29.1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns, if any, associated with its use. Significance and Use3.1 This test method is suitable for use in calculatingweights and volumes o
8、f the products outlined in Section 1. Theinformation presented can be used for determining quantities ofthe above-stated aromatic hydrocarbons in tanks, shippingcontainers, etc.4. Basic Data4.1 Densities of pure materials at 15C are derived fromdensities furnished by NSRDS-NIST 75-121 (National Stan
9、-dard Reference Data SeriesNational Institute of Standardsand Technology). Densities of impure materials should bedetermined by actual measurement (see Section 7).4.2 The VCF (Volume Correction Factor) equations pro-vided below are derived from the Volume Correction imple-mentation procedures presen
10、ted in Method D 1555 - 04.4.3 The former VCF tables were based on data for com-pounds of the highest purity, but were reported to be usable formaterials in the ranges indicated in Table 2. The data support-ing this conclusion appears to be unavailable at the presenttime; however there is no reason t
11、o change this recommenda-tion. If, depending on the composition of the impurities, thereis reason to suspect that the VCF implementation procedurespresented below do not apply to a particular impure product, aseparate implementation procedure should be independentlydetermined. This may be done by me
12、asuring the density of arepresentative sample at different temperatures throughout theexpected working temperature range, regressing the data toobtain a temperature/density equation that best reproduces theobserved data, and then dividing the constants of thetemperature/density equation by the calcu

Modern densitometers measure density in vacuo and the ASTM and API recommend the use of in vacuodensities
