Scope1.1 This specification covers the type, physical properties
3、,and dimensions of open-cell melamine foam intended for useas thermal and sound-absorbing insulation for temperaturesfrom 40 to +350F (40 to +177C) in industrial environ-ments.1.2 Some uses of thermal insulation materials covered bythis specification are governed by building codes that addressfire p
4、erformance.1.3 The use of an appropriate vapor retarder is required oncold surface applications where water vapor condense andcause a decrease in thermal performance. Refer to PracticeC755 for selection of vapor retarders. Facings shall be agreedupon between the purchaser and the manufacturer or sup

Classification4.1 Melamine thermal insulation are furnished in the fol-lowing types and grades:4.1.1 Type IFlat slab:4.1.1.1 Grade 1Regular (core foam with no facing).4.1.1.2 Grade 2Faced foam.4.1.

Ordering Information5.1 Purchase orders for melamine thermal insulation shallspecify any or all of the following:5.1.1 Title, number,
19、and year of this specification.5.1.2 Type and grade designation (see 4.1).5.1.3 Length, width and thickness required (see Table 1).5.1.4 Tolerance, if other than specified (see Table 2).5.1.5 Quantity of material.5.1.6 Special packaging or marking, when required.5.1.7 Special requirements for inspec
20、tion and for testing.5.1.8 Thermal conductivity at mean temperature of flatstock.5.1.9 Manufacturers name, address, and telephone number.5.1.10 Jacket facing type.6. Materials and Manufacture6.1 Typically a pentane blowing agent is used to foam amelamine-aldehyde precondensate. The result is an open
21、-cellmelamine foam.6.2 Facing materials incorporated into the design of pipeinsulation or flat slab shall be agreed upon between thepurchaser and the manufacturer or seller. Typical materials areas follows:6.2.1 Aluminum FoilAluminum foil laminated to a sup-porting membrane.6.2.2 Aluminized MylarAlu
22、minized mylar film laminatedto a supporting membrane.6.2.3 PolyvinylchloridePolyvinylchloride either plain orreinforced with polyester.6.2.4 PolyvinylfluoridePolyvinylfluoride reinforced withfiberglass and rubber.7. Physical Properties7.1 Melamine thermal insulation shall conform to the physi-cal re
23、quirements in Table 3, which shall constitute acceptanceor rejection values for this specification when tested by testmethods specified in Section 14.NOTE 1Data in Table 3 is for unfaced products; facings affect theproperties listed.NOTE 2Melamine foams are hydrophilic and will absorb large quan-tit
24、ies of water or moisture. Any system exposed to water, moisture, highhumidity or that is used on cold installations must be protected by a vaporretarder or moisture retarder system.7.2 The sound-absorption results for unfaced melaminefoam shall conform to the performance requirements in Table4 of th
