Terminology3.1 Definitions:3.1.1 cracking loada load which creates a bending mo-ment of enough magnitude to produce a te
10、nsile stress greaterthan the sum of induced compression plus the tensile strengthof the concrete resulting in tensile cracks on the tension face ofthe pole.3.1.2 spun polea pole in which the concrete is distributedand compacted through centrifugal force.3.1.3 ultimate loadmaximum load the pole will
11、carry inthe specified direction, before the concrete or steel will reachits limiting state.4. Basis of Acceptance4.1 The acceptability of the poles shall be determined by theresults of full-scale bending and torsional tests. The purchaser shall specify the number andfrequency of full-scale tests. Poles failing to meet the stre
16、ngthrequirements specified by the purchaser or the tolerancesspecified herein shall be rejected.5. Materials5.1 CementPortland cement shall conform to the require-ments of Specification C 150 or shall be portland blast-furnaceslag cement or portland-pozzolan cement conforming to therequirements of S
17、pecification C 595.5.2 AggregateAggregates shall conform to SpecificationC33except that the requirements for grading shall not apply.If a producer can demonstrate that aggregates conforming toSpecification C 330 could be used to manufacture an accept-able product, those aggregates may be used.5.3 Wa
18、terWater used for mixing concrete shall be free ofoils, organic matter, and other substances in amounts that maybe deleterious to concrete, and it shall not contain concentra-tion of chloride ions in excess of 500 ppm or sulfate ions inexcess of 1000 ppm.5.4 AdmixtureChemical admixtures shall confor
19、m toSpecification C 494. Air-entraining admixtures shall conformto Specification C 260. Fly ash or other pozzolanic admixturesshall conform to the requirements of Specification C 618.Admixtures shall not cause the chloride ion content of theconcrete to exceed 0.06 % by mass of cement.5.5 SteelPrestr
20、essing steel shall conform to SpecificationsA 416/A 416M, A421, or A722/A 722M. Non-tensioned lon-gitudinal reinforcement shall conform to Specifications A 615/A 615M, A617/A 617M, or A496. Circumferential wire rein-forcement shall conform to Specification A 82, A 496, orA 641. Base plates, anchor b
21、olts and top mount couplings shallconform to the ASTM specifications designated on contractdrawings.5.6 All inserts shall be corrosion resistant and used accord-ing to the manufacturers specifications. No aluminum insertsshall be allowed.6. Requirements Requirements6.1 General Requirements:6.1.1 Con
22、crete Cover The minimum concrete cover overall reinforcing steel shall be34 in. (19 mm) unless specifiedotherwise by purchaser. For street lighting poles, cover can bereduced to12 in. (13 mm).6.1.2 Circumferential WireCircumferential wire spacingshall be a maximum of 4 in. (102 mm), except at the en
