Terminology3.1 Definitions:3.1.1 die castinga metal object produced by the introduc-tion of molten metal under substantial pressure into a metal dieand characterized by a high degree of
10、 fidelity to the die cavity.4. Ordering Information4.1 Orders for die castings shall include the following basicinformation:4.1.1 This specification number and date,4.1.2 Quantity and delivery schedule, as required,4.1.3 Part name and number,4.1.4 Alloy (Table 1), and4.1.5 Drawing of die casting, wh
11、en required, giving allnecessary dimensions and showing latest revisions and allow-ances for machining, if any. Location of ejector pin marks orparting lines shall be at the option of the producer, unlessspecifically designated on the drawing.1This specification is under the jurisdiction of ASTM Com

United States14.2 Additional tests, options, and special inspection require-ments as provided below should be justified only on the basisof need. These shall be specified in the contract or purchaseorder, as additional procedures and extended d

Materials5.1 The magnesium alloys used for the manufacture of diecastings shall be such that the die castings produced willconform to the chemical composition requirements of thisspecification. Ingot in
18、accordance with Specification B93/B93M may be used but is not restricted to this source.6. Quality Assurance6.1 Responsibility for InspectionWhen specified in thecontract or purchase order, the producer or supplier is respon-sible for the performance of all inspection and test require-ments specifie
19、d herein. Except as otherwise specified in thecontract or order, the producer or supplier may use his own orany other suitable facilities for the performance of the inspec-tion and test requirements specified herein, unless disapprovedby the purchaser. The purchaser shall have the right to performan
20、y of the inspections and tests set forth in this specification.Quality assurance standards shall be agreed upon between theproducer or supplier and purchaser at the time a contract ororder is placed.6.2 Lot DefinitionAn inspection lot shall be defined asfollows:6.2.1 An inspection lot shall consist
21、of the production fromeach die or compound die on each machine for each 24 hduring the first week of normal operation and the productionfor each 48 h thereafter of normal operation. Any significantchange in the machine, composition, die, or continuity ofoperation shall be considered as the start of
22、a new lot. Diecastings inspected by this method shall be so marked orhandled during the finishing operations as not to lose theiridentity.6.2.2 Each die casting of a randomly selected sample shallbe examined to determine conformance to the requirementswith respect to general quality, dimensions, and
