Scope1.1 This specification covers soft, medium, and hard temperzinc-5 % aluminum-mischmetal (Zn-5 Al-MM)

The product isintended for applications requiring corrosion resistance,drawability, and formability.1.2 This specification is applicable to orders in eitherinch-pound units (as A856) or acceptable SI units as A856M.Inch-pound units and SI unit
4、s are not necessarily equivalent;therefore, each system shall be used independently of the other,without combining values in any way.1.3 This specification references notes and footnotes whichprovide explanatory material. Classification4.1 TemperThe wire is classified with regard to mechani-cal properties by temper, which is related to tensile strengthand stiffness. The temper de
10、signations are soft, medium, andhard.4.2 Coating ClassesZn-5AL-MM alloy coating on thewire is classified in a number of classes (1, 3 or A, 60, B, 100,and C) (see Table 1).5. Materials and Manufacture6.1 The steel from which the wire is produced shal
17、l be madeby any commercially accepted steelmaking process.6.2 Coating Bath AnalysisThe bath metal used in continu-ous hot-dip Zn-5 Al-MM alloy-coated wire shall meet thechemical composition limits specified in Specification B750.6.2.1 For a two-step coating operation where the firstcoating is zinc (
18、hot-dip galvanizing or electrogalvanizing) thefinal bath shall be permitted to have an aluminum content of upto 7.2 % to prevent depletion of the aluminum content of thebath.6.2.2 Method of AnalysisThe determination of chemicalcomposition shall be made in accordance with suitable chemi-cal (see Test
19、 Method E47 for tin), ICP Argon Plasma Spectro-metric (see Test Methods E1277), or other methods. In case ofdispute, the results secured by Text Methods E1277 shall be thebasis of acceptance.6.2.3 A standard practice for X-ray fluorescence spectrom-etry for determination of cerium and lanthanum in a
20、 zinc-5 %aluminum-mischmetal alloy has been established by the Inter-national Lead Zinc Research Organization (Standard PracticeGF-1). In case of dispute, the results secured by Test MethodsE1277 shall be the basis of acceptance.7. Mechanical Properties7.1 The Zn-5 Al-MM alloy coated wire as represe
21、nted bythe test specimens tested in accordance with Test Methods E8shall conform to the tensile strength requirements prescribed inTable 2.7.2 Test specimens found to contain a weld or obviousimperfections shall be discarded and another test specimenobtained to verify conformance to the tensile stre
22、ngth require-ments.8. Coating Tests:8.1 Weight of CoatingThe Zn-5 Al-MM alloy-coated wirewhen tested in accordance with Test Method A90/A90M shallconform to the requirements of Table 1 for minimum weight ofcoating for the class required.NOTE 2A typical ratio of 0.20 oz/ft261 g/m2 equals 200 to 240 h
23、 assalt spray test in accordance with Test Method B117 may be used.8.2 Adherence of CoatingThe Zn-5 Al-MM alloy-coatedwire as represented by the test specimens shall be capable ofbeing wrapped in a close helix at a rate not exceeding 15turns/min around a cylindrical steel mandrel having a diameteras
24、 prescribed in Table 3 without cracking or delaminating thecoating to such an extent that any coating is removed whenrubbed with the bare fingers. Loosening or detachment duringthe adhesion test of superficial, small particles of Zn-5 Al-MMTABLE 1 Minimum Weight of Zn-5 AL-MM Alloy Coating per Unit
