Scope*1.1 This specification2covers carbon steel castings forvalves, flanges, fittings, or other pressure-containing parts forhigh-temperature service and of quality s
4、uitable for assemblywith other castings or wrought-steel parts by fusion welding.1.2 Three grades, WCA, WCB, and WCC, are covered inthis specification. Selection will depend upon design andservice conditions, mechanical properties, and the high tem-perature characteristics.1.3 The values stated in e
5、ither SI units or inch-pound unitsare to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated ineach system may not be exact equivalents; therefore, eachsystem shall be used independently of the other. 8、neral Conditions for Delivery3.1 Except for investment castings, castings furnished tothis specification shall conform to the requirements of Speci-fication A 703/A 703M, including any supplementary require-ments that are indicated in the purchase order. Failure tocomply with the general requirement
9、s of Specification A 703/A 703M constitutes nonconformance with this specification. Incase of conflict between the requirements of this specificationand Specification A 703/A 703M, this specification shall pre-vail.3.2 Steel investment castings furnished to this specificationshall conform to the req
10、uirements of Specification A 985/A 985M, including any supplementary requirements that areindicated in the purchase order. Failure to comply with thegeneral requirements of Specification A 985/A 985M consti-tutes nonconformance with this specification. In case of con-flict between the requirements o
11、f this specification and Speci-fication A 985/A 985M, Specification A 985/A 985M shallprevail.4. Ordering Information4.1 The inquiry and order should include or indicate thefollowing:4.1.1 A description of the casting by pattern number ordrawing (dimensional tolerances shall be included on thecastin
12、g drawing),4.1.2 Grade of steel,4.1.3 Options in the specification,4.1.4 Whether the castings are to be produced using theinvestment casting process, and4.1.5 The supplementary requirements desired including thestandards of acceptance.5. Heat Treatment5.1 All castings shall receive a heat treatment

17、irement S15 is specified.5.3 Heat treatment shall be performed after castings havebeen allowed to cool below the transformation range.6. Temperature Control6.1 Furnace temperatures for heat treating shall be effec-tively controlled by pyrometer.7. Chemical Composition7.1 The steel shall be in accord
18、ance with the requirementsas to chemical composition prescribed in Table 1.8. Tensile Requirements8.1 Steel used for the castings shall be in accordance withthe requirements as to tensile properties prescribed in Table 2.9. Quality9.1 The surface of the casting shall be examined visuallyand shall be
19、 free of adhering sand, scale, cracks, and hot tears.Other surface discontinuities shall meet the visual acceptancestandards specified in the order. Visual Method SP-55 or othervisual standards may be used to define acceptable surfacediscontinuities and finish. Unacceptable visual surface discon-tin
20、uities shall be removed and their removal verified by visualexamination of the resultant cavities.9.2 When additional inspection is desired, SupplementaryRequirements S4, S5, and S10 may be ordered.9.3 The castings shall not be peened, plugged, or impreg-nated to stop leaks.10. Repair by Welding10.1
21、 Repairs shall be made using procedures and weldersqualified under Practice A 488/A 488M.10.2 Weld repairs shall be inspected to the same qualitystandards that are used to inspect the castings. When castingsare produced with Supplementary Requirement S4 specified,weld repairs shall be inspected by m
22、agnetic particle examina-tion to the same standards that are used to inspect the castings.When castings are produced with Supplementary RequirementS5 specified, weld repairs on castings that have leaked onhydrostatic test, or on castings in which the depth of any cavityprepared for repair welding ex
