A superscript epsilon () indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1. Scope1.1 This specification covers the design, material, and mini-mum perfo
3、rmance requirements of resilient connectors usedfor connections between reinforced concrete structures con-forming to Specifications C478 and C913 to corrugated steeldrainage pipe conforming to Specifications A760 or A762.1.1.1 These connectors are designed to provide a positiveseal between the pipe
4、 and manholes or other structuressubjected to internal and external hydrostatic pressures lessthan 10.8 psi 74 KPa.1.1.2 Testing under this standard is limited to hydrostaticpressures. Alternate air and vacuum pressure testing involveunique testing protocols and are not addressed under thisstandard.
5、1.1.3 Testing under this standard is conducted in a labora-tory as a proof of design certification. Actual field performancetesting would be accomplished and accepted under individualproject performance standards or pipeline acceptance criteria,which is outside the scope of this standard.NOTE 1Infil
6、tration or exfiltration quantities for an installed system aredependent upon many factors other than the connections between manholestructures and pipe, and allowable quantities must be covered by otherspecifications and suitable testing of the installed pipeline and system.1.2 The values stated in
7、either inch-pound units or SI unitsare to be regarded separately as standard. Within the text the SIunits are shown in brackets. The values stated in each systemmay not be exact equivalents: therefore, each system shall beused independently of the other. Combining values from thetwo systems may resu
8、lt in nonconformance with the standard.1.3 The following precautionary caveat pertains only to thetest methods portion, Section 7, of this specification: Thisstandard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns,if any, associated with its use. Terminology3.1 Definitions:3.1.1 Terms relating to plastics and rubber shall be asdefined in Terminologies F412 and D1566, respectively.3.1.2 Terms relating to precast concrete manholes andrelated products shall be as defined in Terminology C822 andas modified in 3.2.3.3 to 3.4.1This test

Materials and Manufacture4.1 All materials shall conform to the following require-ments:4.1.1 Resilient mater
19、ials for connectors and filler rings shallbe manufactured from natural or synthetic rubber and shallconform to the requirements prescribed in Specification F477,Section 6, Low Head Physical Requirements for ElastomericSeals for Plastic Pipe.4.1.2 Low Temperature Brittle Point. Resilient materials fo
20、rconnectors shall display no fracture at -40 F -40 C whentested in accordance with Test Method D746.4.1.3 Tear Resistance. Resilient materials for connectorsshall meet a minimum tear resistance of 200 lbf/in 34 kN/mwhen tested in accordance with Test Method D624 with anicked Die B.4.2 Mechanical Dev
21、icesExpansion rings, tension bands,and take-up devices used for mechanically compressing theresilient portion of the connector against the pipe, manhole orwastewater structure shall be made from a material or materialsin combination that will ensure durability, strength, resistanceto corrosion, and
22、have properties that will ensure continuedresistance to leakage. Bolts, nuts, and other threaded itemsused with joining systems shall be zinc coated by one of thefollowing processes: hot-dip process as provided in Specifica-tion A153/A153M; electroplating process as provided in Speci-fication B633,
