11、 或 The Milky Way System。银河系是地球和太阳所属的星系，因其主体部分投影在天球上的亮带而得名。银河系约有 2000 多亿颗恒星。银河系侧看像一个中心略鼓的大圆盘，整个圆盘的直径约为 10 万光年，太阳位于据银河系中心约 2.3 万光年处。鼓起处为银心，是恒星密集区，望去白茫茫的一片。银河系俯视像一个巨大的漩涡，这个漩涡由四个旋臂组成。太阳系位于其中一个旋臂(猎户座臂)，逆时针旋转(太阳绕银心旋转一周约 2.2 亿年)。河外星系，简称为星系，是位于银河系之外，由几十亿至几千亿颗恒星、星云和星际物质组成的天体系统。目前已发现大约 10 亿个河外星系。银河系也只是一个普通的星系。人们估计河外星系的总数在千亿个以上，它们如同辽阔的海洋中星罗棋布的岛屿，故也被称为“宇宙岛”。天体系统由小到大的顺序：地球地球与月球构成地月系太阳和八大行星、彗星、小行星组成的太阳系许多太阳系这样的天体系统组成了银河系许多银河系这样的庞大星系组成宇宙！4
