This specification covers the general require- ments for an aircraft rigid seat survival kit (RSSK) containing emergency oxygen for use by aircrewmen during normal flight operations and during and fo
3、llowing emergency egress. The kit also contains survival equipment. 2. APPLICABLE DOCUKENTS 2.1 Issues of documents. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Qualification, The rigid seat survival kits furnished under this specification shall be products which are qualified for listing on the applicable qualified products list at
9、the time set for opening of bids (see 4.3). 3.2 First article. When specified (see 6.2), the contractor shall furnish sample unit(s) for first article inspection and approval (see 4.4.). 3.3 Selection of specifications and standards. Specifications and standards for necessary commodities and service
10、s not specified herein or in the applicable detail specifications shall be selected in accordance with MIL-STD-143. 3.4 Materials and components. Materials and components shall conform to applicable specifications and as specified herein and in the applicable detail specifications. Materials which a
11、re not covered by applicable specifications or which are not specifically described herein, or in the applicable detail specifications, shall be of the best quality, of the lightest practicable weight, and suitable for the purpose intended. 3.4.1 Metal parts. AL1 metal parts shall be of a corrosion
12、resistant material or treated in a manner to render them adequately resis- tant to corrosion. 3.4.1.1 Dissimilar metals. Dissimilar metals, such as defined by MIL-STD-889 shall not be used in intimate contact with each other unless suitably protected against electrolytic corrosion with protective co

Nonmagnetic materials shall be used for all components except where magnetic materials offer definite advantages. . .- - . 3.4.3 Nonmetallic
14、 materials. 3.4.3.1 Elastomer components. The elastomer components shall be composed of an ozoneresistant composition. 3.4.3.1.1 Age. Elastomer components shall be notmore than 12 months old from the cure date of manufacture to the date of delivery to any Government Service or to any airframe or acc
15、essory manufacturer. S 3.4.3.2 Fiberglass. Fiberglass, if used in the construction of the container, shall be manufactured in accordance with the requirements of MIL-P-9400. L-P-383. The test slabs of the basic container when tested as specified in 4.8.13 shall exhibit the properties of resin conten
16、t. The maximum resin content shall be 33 percent, *-. The fiberglass material shall conform to the requirements of 3.4.4 . Protective treatment. When materials are used in the construction of .the rigid seat survival kit that are subject to corrosion in oxygen, salt air, or other atmospheric conditi
17、ons likely to occur during service usage, they shall be protected against such corrosion in a manner that shall in no way prevent compliance with the performance requirements of this specification. Any protective coating or finish that shall chip or scale during normal service life, or under extreme
18、s of atmospheric condi- tions, shall not be used. 3.4.4.1 Aluminum alloy parts. Where practicable, aluminum alloy parts shall be covered with an anodic -film conforming to MIL-A-8625. 3.4.5 Fungus-proof materials. Materials which are nutrients for fungi shall not be used where it is practicable to a
19、void them. Where used and not hermetically sealed, they shall be treated with a fungicidal agent acceptable to the procuring activity. However, if they will be used in a hermetically sealed enclosure, fungicidal treatment will not be necessary. 3.4.6 Standard parts. MS and AN standard parts shall be
20、 used where they suit the purpose, and shall be identified by their part number. In applications for which no suitable standard part is in effect on the date of invitation to bid, commercial parts may be used, provided they conform to the requirements of this specification. 3.4.7 Deleterious fumes.
21、Materials or material treatments which shall cause toxic reaction in this application or transfer odor of an obnoxious or unpleasant type shall not be used. 5 Provided by IHSNot for ResaleNo reproduction or networking permitted without license from IHS-,-,-3.4.8 Threads. 3.4.8.1 7742. Screw threads.
22、 Screw threads shall conform to MIL-S- 3.4.8.2 7105. Pipe threads, Pipe threads shall conform to MIL-P- 3.5 Environmental conditions. Unless otherwise specified in the applicable detail specification, the rigid seat survival kit shall function as designed when exposed to any likely combination of th
23、e following environmental conditions: a. Temperatre from -65 to +160 F. b. Humidity as encountered in all-weather operation. c. Salt spray as encountered in salt water operations. d. Sand and dust as encountered in desert operations. e. Vibration within the limits of tests, as described in 4.8.12.1.
24、 3.6 Design and construction. The RSSK shall be designed and oriented in such a manner as to accommodate and provide a maximum of comfort, convenience, and freedom from hazard for the aircrewman (lower limit 3 percentile man, upperlimit 98 percentile man, as specified in ACEL Report No. 533).
