7、ts for equipment called “PDH network adapter“ for the transport of MPEG-2 signals over PDH networks. It describes the necessary operations to adapt the WEG-2 Transport Stream into interfaces of PDH networks and the functional characteristics associated with this equipment. Source ITU-T Recommendatio
8、n J.131 was prepared by ITU-T Study Group 9 (1997-2000) and was approved under the WTSC Resolution No. 1 procedure on the 18th of March 1998. Recommendation 5.131 (03198) 1 FOREWORD IT (International Telecommunication Union) is the United Nations Specialized Agency in the field of telecommuni- catio
9、ns. The IT Telecommunication Standardization Sector (ITU-T) is a permanent organ of the IT. The ITU-T is responsible for studying technical, operating and tariff questions and issuing Recommendations on them with a view to standardizing telecommunications on a worldwide basis. The World Telecommunic
10、ation Standardization Conference (WTSC), which meets every four years, establishes the topics for study by the ITU-T Study Groups which, in their tum, produce Recommendations on these topics. The approval of Recommendations by the Members of the ITU-T is covered by the procedure laid down in WTSC Re
11、solution No. 1. In some areas of information technology which fall within ITU-Ts purview, the necessary standards are prepared on a collaborative basis with IS0 and IEC. NOTE In this Recommendation, the expression “Administration“ is used for conciseness to indicate both a telecommunication administ
12、ration and a recognized operating agency. 21、NALS IN PDH NETWORKS (Geneva, 1998) 1 Scope This Recommendation specifies the transmission of MPEG-2 transport streams within PDH networks working at the Recommendation G.702 i hierarchical bit rates of 1544 kbits, 2048 kbits, 6312 kbits, 34368 kbits, 44 736 kbit/s and 139264 kbits. The use of any o
22、f these bit rates is optional; if, however, one or more rates are selected, the complete specification applies. The definition of the network aspects of the transmission of MPEG-2 Transport Streams is based to the maximum extent on existing international standards. The 8 Mbits fiame structure for th
23、e support of ATM is not yet defined. Further study is required. The equipment considered in this Recommendation is the Network Adapter performing the adaptation between MPEG-2 transport streams and the interfaces of PDH networks. The application of this Recommendation is restricted to a physical lay
