ITU-T G.987.2 (10/2010) i Recommendation ITU-T G.987.2 10-Gigabit-capable passive optical networks (XG-PON): Physical media dependent (PMD) layer specification Summary Recommendation ITU-T G.987.2 describes the physical layer requirements and specif
10、ications for the XG-PON physical media dependent (PMD) layer. Wavelength enhancement bands are described in Recommendation ITU-T G.987.1. The transmission convergence (TC) layer is described in Recommendation ITU-T G.987.3. The ONU management and control interface (OMCI) specifications are described
11、 in Recommendation ITU-T G.988. This Recommendation describes a flexible optical fibre access network capable of supporting the bandwidth requirements of business and residential services. The ITU-T G.987 series of standards allows for multiple upstream and downstream line rates. This Recommendation
12、 currently defines one type of 10-Gigabit-capable passive optical network (XG-PON) system with asymmetric nominal line rate of 9.95328 Gbit/s in the downstream direction and 2.48832 Gbit/s in the upstream direction, hereinafter referred to as XG-PON1. This Recommendation describes a system that repr
13、esents an evolutionary development from the systems described in the ITU-T G.984 series. To the greatest extent possible, this Recommendation maintains the requirements of Recommendation ITU-T G.984.1 to ensure maximal continuity with existing systems and optical fibre infrastructure. ITU-T G.987.2 (10/2010) FOREWORD The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) is the United Nations specialized agency in the field of telecommunications, information and communication technologies (ICTs). The ITU Telecommunication Standardization Sector (ITU-T) is a permanent organ of I
16、TU. ITU-T is responsible for studying technical, operating and tariff questions and issuing Recommendations on them with a view to standardizing telecommunications on a worldwide basis. The World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (WTSA), which meets every four years, establishes the topics
17、for study by the ITU-T study groups which, in turn, produce Recommendations on these topics. The approval of ITU-T Recommendations is covered by the procedure laid down in WTSA Resolution 1. In some areas of information technology which fall within ITU-Ts purview, the necessary standards are prepare
18、d on a collaborative basis with ISO and IEC. NOTE In this Recommendation, the expression “Administration“ is used for conciseness to indicate both a telecommunication administration and a recognized operating agency. Compliance with this Recommendation is voluntary. However, the Recommendation may c
19、ontain certain mandatory provisions (to ensure, e.g., interoperability or applicability) and compliance with the Recommendation is achieved when all of these mandatory provisions are met. The words “shall“ or some other obligatory language such as “must“ and the negative equivalents are used to expr
20、ess requirements. The use of such words does not suggest that compliance with the Recommendation is required of any party.
