SCOPE The material defined by this specification is a water displacing rust preventative compound, dispersed in suitable hydrocarbon solvents. 2. APPLICATION The material is used for treating metal components whic

3、h have previously been phosphated. The phosphated units, after an aqueous rinse, are dipped in the specified fluids, agitated briefly and allowed to drain and dry. The resultant finish is a thin, touch-dry protective lubricating film. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIAL

4、S Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.1 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS The finished film shall maintain effective lubrication down to - 30 C. 3.2 PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 3.2.1 Specific Gravity 15.6/15.6 C 0.79 - 0.

8、ntical to DEF 2000, Method 26) Test Panels: 76 x 38 mm with 7 mm diameter hole placed centrally 7 mm from one of the shorter sides. Material to be mild steel prepared from 18 B.G. sheet complying with BS 1449, Part 1B (CR3/FF). The panels should be degreased and abraded with emery cloth using grades

9、 1 1/2, 1 and 0 (to BS 871) successively. After final polishing with clean cloth and petroleum ether the panels should be washed with hot methanol and wiped dry. The panels should not be handled with bare fingers. Test Method: Immerse each panel vertically in a 30% w/v solution of sodium chloride fo

10、r 30 seconds, withdraw and allow to drain vertically for 10 seconds (see Note 1). Completely immerse each panel vertically in the sample for 2 minutes, avoiding any lateral movement. Withdraw the panel and suspend vertically for 1 h under normal indoor atmospheric conditions. Suspend the panel verti

11、cally in a humidity vessel (see Note 2) at room temperature for 72 h. Remove the panel and clean with a clean cloth and petroleum ether. Examine the surface of the panel visually for rusting, pitting, etching or residual staining. Note 1: Do not shake the sodium chloride prior to the test as aeration can give rise to anomalous results. Note 2: A suitable humidity vessel consists of a closed glass container of approximately 5 litres capacity with 2 - 3 cm of a saturated sodium carbonate solution on the bottom. The vessel should be prepared and allowed to stabilize 24 h prior to use.
