SCOPETh e material defined by this specification is a water borne stone peckresist ant baking primer surfacer for exterior automotive applications fornominal 30 micrometre film thickness.2. APPLICATIONThis specification was originally released for material used as primersurfa cer on b
3、aked EC surfaces on bodies and small parts. The primer canbe pai nted with either solvent borne solid color topcoat or solvent basedas well as water based basecoat.On cer tain non-visible interior or underbody surfaces, the primer may notbe followed by a topcoat.The pr imer is suitable for electrost
4、atic and pneumatic spray application.3. REQUIREMENTS3.1 STATISTICAL PROCESSSupplie rs must conform to the requirements of Ford Quality SystemStand ard Q-101. A mutually acceptable Control Plan as describedtherein is required for material/source approval. Appropriatestatist ical tools must be used to
5、 analyze process/product data sothat variation in the final product is continuously reduced.3.2 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETRY AND/OR THERMAL ANALYSISFord Motor Company, at its option, may conduct infrared and/ortherma l analysis of material/parts supplied to this specification.The IR spectra and thermo
6、grams established for i nitial approval shallconst itute the reference standard and shall be kept on file at thedesignated material laboratory. All samples sha ll produce IR spectraand thermograms that correspond to the reference standard when testedunder the same conditions.3.3 CONDITIONINGAll test

8、f 6 3.4 COMPOSITION3.4.1 VehicleWater based polyurethane modified polyester resins andsui table cross linking components. The properties of theprimer shall be determined by urethane groups.3.4.2 PigmentsPigments and fillers to obtain the desired color andproperties.3.5 MATERIAL PROPERTIES3.5.1 Non-V
9、olatile See Initial Sample +/- 1 %;(FLTM BI 102-01) minimum 50 %The n on-volatile content shall be determined at a sprayviscosity of 30 seconds according to para 3.5.4.3.5.2 Density See Initial Sample +/- 0.02 g/mL(ASTM D 1475)3.5.3 Viscosity as Supplied See Initial Sample +/- 5 s(FLTM BI 111-01)3.5
10、.4 Spray Viscosity As specified by supplier(FLTM BI 111-01, FC #4)The material can be reduced with deionized water.3.5.5 Content of Organic Solvents, max 7 %The content of organic solvents is defined as weight % oforganic solvents at spray viscosity per 3.5.4.3.5.6 Storage Stability 90 dDuring a sto

13、 topcoat shall be used; for appearanceinvestigations, black and dark metallic.3.6.1 SubstrateZinc phosphated steel panels according to WSK-M301-C,ele ctrocoated with WSK-M64J29-C or equivalent material asused in the plant. Fil m thickness and baking as required inthe relevant Material Specification.
14、3.6.2 Primer ApplicationFilm Thickness 3 0 - 40 micrometre(FLTM BI 117-01)Flash off: 10 minutes/RTPrecuring: 10 minutes/100 CBaking (metal temperature): 10 minutes/165 COverbake (for Initial Approval only): 10 minutes/190 C3.6.3 Top CoatAp plication of top coat system as currently used in theplant,
15、film thickness a nd baking as required in the relevantMaterial Specification.3.6.4 Ageing 72 hTest panels prepared under this specification shall be agedfor at least 72 hours at 23 +/- 2 C or 16 hours at 45 +/- 1 Cbefore testing for resistance properties.3.7 APPEARANCE3.7.1 Color (Primer only)Visual
