18、vityofrepairedpalletswillbemaximised.Thestandardalsorefersparticularly tonewpalletstandardsandprescriptivepalletspecificationsinwideuse. Thereisnorequirementinthisstandardforpalletrepairerstoundertaketests,since,ifguidancegiveninthis standardisfollowedandsystematicrepairandinspectionsystemsareused,t

19、henasuccessfulrepairisrecognised tofollow. 1Scope ThisEuropeanStandardspecifiesthemaximumdefectsanddamageallowedbeforeaflatwoodenpalletshallbe repaired,anddefinestheminimumrepaircriteriathatshallbeused. ThisEuropeanStandardisapplicabletowoodenflatpalletsrepairedwithwoodbasedcomponents. NOTE Themaxim

20、umalloweddefectsanddamageforpalletsaredescribedinthisstandardandtheannexesAtoDshow examplesofdefectsanddamagewhichmakethewidelyusedpalletsunacceptableforuse.Forotherpallettypessimilar criteriashouldbesetup.Therepaircriteriaforpoolandrentalpalletsarecontrolledbytheirrespectivecontrolling operators/ow

26、erousforpersonsorgoods(asillustratedinannexesAtoD). 4.2Nailjointstrength Nailjointstrengthisparticularlyimportantfortheperformanceofpallets. 4.3Inspection Inspectionofapalletshalltakeplacebeforeanyhandling,whetherloadedorempty. 4.4Generalconditionsidentifyinganunacceptablepalletforuse Thegeneralcond

27、itions,whichmakeapalletunacceptableforuse,areasfollows: a) onedeckboardmissingorbroken,eitherobliquelyoracross; b) eitheroneblock,stringer(bearer)orstringerboardmissingorbroken; c) missingwoodondeckboardstosuchanextentthatononedeckboard,twoormorenailshanksarevisible,or onmorethantwodeckboards,oneorm

28、orenailshanksarevisible,ormissingwoodofmorethanofthe widthoftheboardforlength.Missingwoodonadeckboardbetweentheblocksofmorethanofthewidth ofthedeckboard; d) splitsondeckboardsofmorethanofthewidthorthelengthofthedeckboard,whichcannotbesecurely nailed; e) wingsonpalletsmayonlyhavemissingwoodfrominnerd

29、eckboardendsforamaximumof1/3ofprojecting winglength; f) missingwoodonblocks,stringers(bearers)orstringerboards,ifmorethanonenailshankisvisibleatanyone joint; g) dependingonuse,dirtyorcontaminatedpallet.Ifanydoubtexistsastothenatureofthecontamination,care shallbetakeninitsidentificationandsubsequentd

30、isposal; h) olderpalletswithacombinationofminordamageorloosejointsandwithapoorappearancemayhavea combinationofissuesandbeunacceptablewhenviewedasawhole; i) palletswithbadworkmanship.Palletswithmaterialsorcomponentsthathavebeenpreviouslyincorrectly applied; j) componentsaffectedbydecaywhichcouldaffec

31、ttheirmechanicalproperties; k) Fullwidthsplitsofanylengthinstringer(bearer)notches.ENISO18613:2003(E) 6 5Repair 5.1General Componentswithunacceptabledefectsordamageshallberemovedandreplacedbyneworreusablecomponents ofonepiece. 5.1.1 Blocksofparticleboard Ifblocksofparticleboardareusedtheyshallconfor

32、mtoEN10871.Thedensityoftheparticleboardshallbemore than580kgpercubicmetre. 5.1.2Bottom deckboards Bottomdeckboardsandthecornersofthepalletshallbechamfered,ifrequired. 5.1.3 Nailheads Nailheadsshallbecountersunksothatthetopoftheheadofthenailcannotbesnaggedabovethesurface. 5.2Repairofpalletsofknownspe

33、cification Replacementcomponentsshallbefromneworreusedmaterials.Theyshallbeinaccordancewiththerelevant specificationsofthepalletanditsrepairrequirementsintherelevantstandards.Reusedcomponentsshall conformtoalltherequirementsofthenewpalletcomponentspecifications.Nomissingwoodorsplitsareallowed inthes

34、ereusedcomponents.Thenailsusedandthefinalassembledpalletshallmeettherequirementsofthe specificationsforthatpallet. NOTE Repairrequirementsmaydifferfromthenewpalletspecification.Detailsasagreedbycontract. Palletswhichareunacceptableforuse,shallberepairedordisposedof,andmarkingrequirementsmetasdefined
