20、92apply. 4Appearance and soundness 4.1General Thesemifinishedproductsshallbesoundandfreefromdefectssuchassegregation,cracks,laminationsand otherimperfectionsthatprecludetheirintendeduse. 4.2Removalofsurfacedefects Surfacedefectsshallberemovedbydressinginordertoconformwith4.1.Dressingmaybecarriedoutb

21、ychipping and/orgrindingorbyanysuitablemethodproviding: theresultingdepressionforasinglefaceshallnotfallbelowavalueequaltoamaximumof2%ofthenominal sizeor3mm,whicheveristhegreater; inthecaseofremovalofdefectsfromvariousfacesofthesamecrosssection,theresidualtransverse dimensionsshallremainwithinthespe

24、cheveristhegreater; 150mm:4,5mmor2%whicheveristhegreater. 5.2Diagonaltolerances Thedifferencebetweenthetwodiagonalsofthesamesectionshallbe 6%ofthelargerofthetwodiagonalsfor semifinishedproductsofnominalwidth 200mm.Forwidersemifinishedproducts,thetoleranceshallbethe subjectofagreementatthetimeofenqui

25、ryandorder. 5.3Lengthtolerances 5.3.1 Deliveryinstandardlengths Ifstandardlengthsareordered,atoleranceof 1000mmshallapply.Semifinishedproductsshallhavealength 1000mmunlessagreedatthetimeofenquiryandorder. Inaddition,forsemifinishedproductsofnominalcrosssectionalarea 22 500mm 2 ,only10%(relativetothe

26、 massoftheorder)ofsemifinishedproductsshorterthanthevaluesindicatedispermittedperdelivery. Forsemifinishedproductsofnominalcrosssectionalarea22500mm 2 ,thepercentageofshortsemifinished productsshallbethesubjectofagreementatthetimeofenquiryandorder. 5.3.2 Deliveryinfixedlengths Iffixedlengthsareorder

27、ed,thefollowingtoleranceclassesapply: a) Normaltolerance,250mm; b) Tightenedtolerance,100mm; c) Reducedtolerance,50mm. Thetoleranceclassshallbespecifiedatthetimeoforder.Ifthereisnotoleranceindication,thenormaltolerance (250mm)applies.EN10031:2003(E) 6 Specialtoleranceslowerthanthosespecifiedina),b)o

28、rc)maybeagreedatthetimeofenquiryandorder.If agreedatthetimeofenquiryandorder,thetolerancemaybetotallypositiveortotallynegative. Inaddition,ifspecifiedatthetimeofenquiryandorder,20%ofthesemifinishedproductsshallbepermittedin submultiplesoftheservicelength;thetolerancesapplicabletotheseshortbarsareone

29、classtighterthanthose specifiedfortheorderedlength. 6 Shapetolerances 6.1Straightness Semifinishedproductsshallbedeliveredhotformedwithoutanyspecialstraightening.Thepermissibledeviations shallbe: inthecaseofbending,10mmpermetreuniformlydistributed(seeFigure1); inthecaseoflocaldeformationsorwaviness,

30、20mmpermetre(seeFigure2). Ifspecifiedatthetimeofenquiryandorder,specialstraighteningshallbecarriedout;thepermissibledeviations shallbelessthan4mmperm. Tolerancesondeformationoftheendsmaybeagreedatthetimeofenquiryandorder. 6.2Twist Squaresemifinishedproductsshallnothaveatwistanglegreaterthan4perm,wit

31、hamaximumof10for lengths 6mand15forgreaterlengths. Rectangularsemifinishedproductsshallnothaveatwistlikelytoadverselyaffecttheirapplication.Ifspecifiedat thetimeofenquiryandorder,thetolerancesspecifiedforsquaresemifinishedproductsalsoapplyforrectangular semifinishedproducts. 7 Tolerancesonmass 7.1To

32、lerancesonmassperunitlength 7.1.1 Caseofbillets Themassshallbebetween88%and100%inclusiveofthetheoreticalmassperunitlengthcorrespondingtothe nominalcrosssectionalarea(squareorrectangleofthecorrespondingdimensions). 7.1.2 Caseofbloomsandslabs Themassshallbebetween94%and100%inclusiveofthetheoreticalmas
