6、ers and Fluxes.) 1 PIJRPOSE The purpose of this standard is to provide an industry standard for liquid rosin fluxes used for soldering. 2 SCOPE This standard defines and characterizes liquid rosin fluxes of three types. 3 CLASSIFICATION Type LR - Liquid Rosin - non - activated Type LRMA - Liquid Ros
7、in - mildly activated Type LRA - Liquid Rosin - activated 4 REQUIREMENTS 4.1 Composition Type LR shall be composed of rosin and solvent only. Type LRMA and LRA contain additives for the purpose of improving fluxing action. 4.2 Stability and Homogeneity - See Par. 5.2 for Test Method No separation of
8、 flux constituents or crystallization of rosin shall be evident. 4.3 Resistivity of Water Extract - See Par. 5.3 for Test Method Type LR - 100,000 ohm - cm minimum TypeLRMA - 100,000 ohm - cm minimum Type LRA - 45,000 ohm - cm minimum 4.4 Effect on Copper Mirror - See Par. 5.4 for Test Method Not ap
9、plicable to Type LRA. When types LR and LRMA are tested in accordance with Par. 5.4, the flux shall show no more evidence of attack on the copper than that of the control flux. 5 TEST METHODS 5.1 All tests shall be conducted on fluxes as received. 5.2 Stability and Homogeneity Mix the flux thoroughl
10、y and then cool a 100-rnl sample to 5 * 2OC (41 o f 3.6F) in a cold chamber and maintain at that temperature for 60 to 65 minutes. Examine the contents of the container to determine compliance with 4.2. a /Lx .- - I EIA 402 72 3234600 0067802 8 RS-402 Page 2 5.3 Resistivity of Water Extract Thorough
11、ly clean five 180-ml electrolytic beakers, eight-watchglasses (five for beaker covers and three for test samples), and one 50-ml graduated cylinder. Cleaning shall be performed as follows: wash in hot-water-detergent solution, wash several times with tap water, and rinse at least five times with dis
12、tilled water. Perform all of the following operations in a laboratory maintained at 23 * 2OC (73.4 * 3.6OF). Pour 50 cubic centimeters (ce) of distilled water at 23 * 2OC (73.4 * 3.6F) into each of the five beakers and cover with watchglass. Measurements of the resistivity of the water in each beake
13、r shall be made to determine whether the beakers have been thoroughly cleaned. The resistivity of the distilled water in each beaker shall be not less than 500,000 ohm - cm at 23O * 2OC (73.4O * 3.6OF). If the resistivity of the water in any beaker is less than 500,000 ohm - cm, the beakers shall be
14、 rewashed, 50 cc of distilled water again added, and the resistivity remeasured. This procedure shall be repeated until the resistivity of the water in each beaker is not less than 500,000 ohm - em. Cover all beakers. A conductivity cell whose cell constant is approximately O. 1 , and a conductivity
15、 bridge model RC - 16B2 made by Industrial Instruments Company, or equal, may be used for these measurements. The distilled water employed shall have a resistivity of not less than 500,000 ohm - cm at 23 5 2OC (73.4O * 3.6OF). Using a calibrated dropper or syringe, introduce 0.10 * .O05 ml of the fl
