This specification covors two types of spineboards for us? in the immobil rf zat on of patien%s with injuries or possible fractures of the cervical, thoracic, or lumbar spine. 1.3 Classification. Spineboards shall be of the following types, as Specifi

Except as herein specified, mater

14、 a for the purpose i ntendod. 1.3.1 Plywoorf. The plywood shall conform to U. S. Comnerce Dept. Product Standard =Type I, Grade 3 and be fire retardant treated in accordance with MIL-L-19149. The wood shall have at least five plies and shall be finished smooth on all surfaces. 1.3.2 Runners (Type I

15、Spineboard Only). The runners shall be of red or white oak and have the dimensions indicated in the applicable drawing. 1.7.3 Screws (Type I Spineboard Only). The screws used in attaching the runners to the spineboard shall be comercial grade 410 oval head, brass, 1-3/4 inches long, and shall confor

16、m to the applicable drawing. 3.3.4 Adhesive Type i Spineboard Only). The adhesive used in attaching the runners to the spinehoard shall be high in both wet and dry strength and conform to MIL-A-2?397. 3.4 Desisn and construction. 3.4.1 Long Spineboard. The long spineboard, Type I, consists of a plyw

17、ood sheet with handholes and with runners, for ground clearance, fastened to the bottom. The board shall be constructed in accordance with the applicable drawing (see 2.1). 3.4.2 Short Spineboard. The short spineboard, Type II, consists of a plywood Sheet, #i t4 handhol es, and shall be constructed

18、in accordance with the appl ic- ab1 9 drawing (see 2.1). 3.5 Finish and Color. The color of the spineboards shall be that of the natural wood from which they are mide. The boards shall be medium sanded, sealed with paste wood fil 1 er which meets TT-F-315, and coated with wator resisting spar varnis

19、3 which meets TT-V-l?i. This finish conforms to finish 29.3 Of MIL-STD-171. 3.5.1 Alternate Finish. Prior to the application of the finish on Vie spineboards, a contractor mqy submit an al t.ernate method or process for finishing. processos are equivalent to thst specified in ?.Ge shall obtain appro

20、val for the use of such alternate process from the contracting officer prior to its application to the spineboards (see 5.2). 37、field medical facilities for the care and treatment of patients with back or neck in j wies . Intended Use. The spineboards covered by this specification are intended 5.1.1 Intended Uso, Type I. The long spinehoard is intended for use in the immobilization of patients having uppir an?/or lower back

38、injuries. 6.1.3 Intended Use, Type TI, The short, spineSoard is intmded for use in the extrication and imobilization of patierits having neck injuries. 6.3 Orderin data.
