SCOPE. This commer

3、cial item description (CID) covers various portable, adjustable, electric,power tool lights suitable for mounting on lathes or other stationary power tools for workpieceillumination.2. CLASSIFICATION. The power tool lights shall be of the following types, sizes, and styles. The type, size, and style

4、 to be furnished shall be as specified (see 7.2(b). Type is determined bythe type of mounting base and the design of the arm used to adjust the position of the lamp. Sizeis determined by the reach, which is the maximum length of extension from the mounting base tothe lamp housing. Style is determine

5、d by the type and wattage of the lamp(s) used. 9、1 General requirements . The power tool lights shall meet the requirements of UnderwritersLaboratory (UL) 153. Unless otherwise specified (see 7.2(c), the power tool lights shall operatefrom a 120-volt, single-phase, 60-hertz circuit. The light may contain a built-in transformer forreducing the lamp

10、 operating voltage. When specified (see 7.2(d), the lamp housing and all of theelectrical items shall be waterproof. Unless otherwise specified (see 7.2(e), the power tool lightsshall be supplied with all lamps needed for normal operation of the lamp. The lamps shall bereplaceable and commercially a

11、vailable.3.2 Components . The power tool lights shall include, as a minimum, the following components:3.2.1 Lamp housing . The lamp housing shall provide mechanical and electrical connections forone or more lamps of the style specified. The lamp housing shall provide a means of directing thelamp ill

12、umination toward the workpiece and away from the eyes of the tool operator.3.2.2 Power cord . The power tool lights shall be equipped with a three-conductor SJ-type cordmeeting the requirements of UL 62. The cord shall have a grounded plug that conforms to figure5-15 of National Electrical Manufactu

13、rers Association (NEMA) WD 6. Unless otherwisespecified (see 7.2(f), the cord shall extend a minimum of 6 feet beyond the mounting base. 3.2.3 Adjustable arm . The adjustable arm shall be horizontally and vertically adjustable and becapable of positioning and holding the lamp housing at the desired

14、location and direction. Anypositioning positioning lockdown and friction adjustment devices shall be capable of beingoperated without the use of tools. The flexible (gooseneck) arm on type 1 power tool lights shallconsist of a single gooseneck tube of a constant diameter, which normally encloses the

15、 powercord. The articulated arm on type 2 power tool lights shall consist of two or more rigid armshinged together, which normally enclose the power cord except at its ends and hinges. Whenspecified (see 7.2(g), the adjustable arm shall completely enclose the power cord from themounting base to the

The mounting base shall be metal and shall be designed for vertical andhorizontal mounting. The base of type 1A and 2A power tool lights shall be of the clam

17、p variety.The base of type 1B and 2B power tool lights shall be of the magnetic variety.3.2.5 Switch . The on-off switch shall be clearly visible and marked. The switch shall be locatedon the lamp housing, the base, or on the power cord within 3 feet of the base. When a waterprooflight is specified

18、(see 3.1, 7.2(d), the switch shall be waterproof. When specified for non-waterproof lights (see 7.2(h), the switch shall be covered with a moisture-resistant seal or rubberboot.3.2.6 Optional components . Optional components shall be furnished as specified (see 7.2(i).3.3 Performance . The light sha

19、ll be capable of retaining a steady position at all desired adjustments, including fully contracted and fully extended, under conditions normally encounteredin machine tool operations. The light shall have an illumination output of not less than the numberof lumens shown in table I when equipped wit

20、h a lamp or lamps appropriate to its maximumwattage.4. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS4.1 Recovered materials . The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials to themaximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal AcquisitionRegulation (FAR).5. QUALITY ASSURANC

21、E PROVISIONS5.1 Product conformance . The power tool lights shall meet the salient characteristics of thiscommercial item description; conform to the manufacturers own drawings, specifications,standards, and quality assurance practices; and be the same light offered for sale in the commercialmarket.

22、 The government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance.5.1.1 Verification of conformance . Suitable verification of conformance to UL 153 and UL 62shall be either the UL label on the product or certification of such conformance by an accreditedtesting laboratory satisfactory to the

23、government.5.2 Warranty . Unless otherwise specified (see 7.2(j), the manufacturers standard commercialwarranty, terms, and conditions shall apply.6. PACKAGING.
