15、eadable symbols (e.g., use of linear bar code and 2D symbologies) and human readable data content for shipment labels within the electronics industry. These labels ensure that the shipment containers can be uniquely identified in any commonly used distribution system. These labels further support tr
16、ading partner data needs in shipping, transport, and receiving processes in the world-wide distribution of components and products. 4 Shipment License Plate labels All transport units must be clearly identified by a worldwide unique License Plate applied as a linear bar code symbol. The use of such
17、License Plates links the transport units to related EDI data, e.g., ANSI X12 856 (Ship Notice/Manifest) or UN/EDIFACT DESADV (Despatch Advice), within computerized applications. Non-EDI enabled partners should also label their shipments with a label that includes a License Plate. The structure and t
18、he method of how to create a License Plate is described in ISO/IEC 15459-1. This standard is based on ISO 15394 developed by ISO Technical Committee 122/Work Group 4. Every function that ships or receives goods in the electronics industry distribution systems should ensure that the label defined in
19、this standard is applied to each physical transport unit and that the unique License Plate number is properly linked to the appropriate customers order/shipment data. In addition, the same License Plate numbers may be used to link transportation units to a shipment/consignment which is described by
20、the ANSI X12 messages 856 (Ship Notice/Manifest), 204 (Motor Carrier Information), 211 (Motor Carrier Bill of Lading), and 858 (Shipment Information.) For international trading partners, the same License Plate numbers may be used to link transportation units to a shipment/consignment which is descri
21、bed by UN/EDIFACT Despatch Advice Message (DESADV) and Transport Instructions (IFTMIN). The License Plate should not be confused with Shipment IDs found in X12 856 (BSN 02) and Despatch Advice Numbers found in UN/EDIFACT DESADV. These control numbers are not used as the License Plates on containers
22、but rather as a secondary key to allow tracking and tracing of entire shipments on their way through the transportation chain. 4.1 Definition and use of specific shipment License Plates All transport units shall be identified by ISO/IEC 15459-1. 4.1.1 Unique Identifier There are two ways to uniquely
