5、been prepared under the direction of the Rubber Standards Committee. It is based on ISO/TR7664:1984 “Rubber, raw solid natural and synthetic General guidance on storage” published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). The principal difference is that in ISO/TR7664 a storage te
6、mperature higher than25 C is permitted and the wording in that subclause (2.2) has been improved in this British Standard to make the meaning clearer. Under unfavourable storage conditions, all types of raw rubber change to a certain extent in physical and/or chemical properties. Ultimately they may
7、 become unserviceable, for example because of hardening, softening, surface degradation and discoloration, resulting in a different behaviour during processing and/or differences in properties of the vulcanizates. These changes may be the result of one particular factor or a combination of factors,
8、mainly the action of oxygen, light, temperature and humidity. The deleterious effects of these factors may, however, be minimized by an appropriate choice of storage conditions. This British Standard, therefore, indicates the most suitable conditions for storage. A British Standard does not purport
9、to include all the necessary provisions of a contract. Users of British Standards are responsible for their correct application. 11、ble conditions for the storage of raw natural and synthetic rubber delivered in the form of bales. NOTEFor rubber delivered in the form of powder, loose crumb or pellets, extra care should be taken because of the far greater exposed surface area. In addition, “particulate” rubber can agglomerate und
12、er the influence of elevated temperature and/or pressure. 2 Storage accommodation 2.1 General The storage space should be clean, dry, well ventilated and of a moderate temperature. 2.2 Temperature The storage temperature should lie between15 C and25 C. Whereas exposure to too high a temperature may
13、cause irreversible changes to properties, the effect of low temperature may in some cases induce crystallization which is reversible and therefore not permanently deleterious. Crystallized or partially crystallized rubbers are hard and may show difficulties during the mixing process. Such crystalliz
