7、 BSI 03-1999 Foreword This Part of BS5173 has been prepared under the direction of the Plastics and Rubber Standards Policy Committee and supersedes BS5173-100:1986 which is withdrawn. BS5173 was first published in1976 and1977 in a series of six Parts, now entirely superseded by revised Parts, consi

8、sting of Sections, published separately. The present format facilitates the revision of individual test methods and allows the addition of new methods, many of which are adoptions of international standards prepared by Technical Committee45, Rubber and rubber products, of the International Organizat

9、ion for Standardization (ISO). Where appropriate, international standards have been dual-numbered as BritishStandards. It should be noted that BS5173-5:1977 has been withdrawn and not replaced by new Sections. Suitable methods are found in the BS903 series of standards to replace those that were in

10、BS5173-5:1977. Methods of test for materials used in the construction of hoses are covered in BS903 “Physical testing of rubber” and BS2782 “Methods of testing plastics”. Further Sections of BS5173 may be added in due course. Where applicable the test methods in BS5173 may also be applied to tubing.
