Scope1.1 This test method covers the measurement of the cutresistance
3、of a material when mounted on a mandrel andsubjected to a cutting edge under a specified load using theTomodynamometer (TDM-100).1.1.1 This procedure is not valid for high-porosity materialswhich allow cutting edge contact with the mounting surfaceprior to cutting.1.1.2 Test apparatus may have limit
4、ations in testing materi-als with a thickness greater than 20 mm.1.2 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound unitsare to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated ineach system may not be exact equivalents; therefore, eachsystem shall be used independently of the other. Combin

Summary of Test Method4.1 A cutting edge under a specified load is moved one timeacross a specimen mounted on a mandrel.4.2 The cut through distance from initial conta
18、ct to cutthrough is determined for each load.4.2.1 A series of tests, at a minimum of three different loadsmust be performed to establish a range of cut distance at thesedifferent loads.4.3 The test method is repeated using multiple loads todetermine the calculated cutting load for the material.5. 19、ignificance and Use5.1 This test method assesses the cut resistance of a materialwhen exposed to a cutting edge under specified loads. Dataobtained from this test method can be used to compare the cutresistance of different materials.5.2 This test method only addresses that range of cuttinghazards t
20、hat are related to a cutting action by a smooth sharpedge across the surface of the material. It is not representativeof any other cutting hazard to which the material may besubjected such as serrated edges, saw blades, or motorizedcutting tools. Nor is it representative of puncture, tear, or otherm
21、odes of fabric failure.6. Apparatus6.1 Test PrincipleThe principle of the cut test is tomeasure the distance traveled by a cutting edge as it ismaintained under a load during the test. The cut test apparatusconsists of the following primary components (see Fig. 1): (A)blade holder and straight line
22、mechanism (B) a cutting edge, aSpecimen (C) with conductive strip (D) and double sideMounting Tape (E) mounted to a (F) mandrel. The apparatusshould propel the cutting edge across the specimen untilsufficient work is applied to cause the specimen to cut through.6.2 TDM-100 Test Apparatus4The TDM-100
23、 is capableof measuring the entire range of cut resistant materials througha horizontal constant speed of blade movement. The maximumlinear displacement of the blade is 70 mm 2.75 in. for thecutting edge. A constant perpendicular force is applied to thespecimen throughout blade movement. The TDM-100
24、 testapparatus (see Fig. 2) consists of a Motor and gearhead (1)with Slide system (2) and Blade support/clamp mechanism (3)and Blade (4) in contact with the specimen mounted on acantilevered Mandrel and holder (5). The Beam (6) is con-nected to the mandrel. Cutting edge displacement is measuredby a
