Scope1.1 This specification covers eye protectors, exclusive ofhelmet-mounted visors, designed for use by riders of motor-cyc
3、les, mopeds, and snowmobiles for off road use that mini-mize or significantly reduce injury to the eye and adnexa as aresult of impact and penetration by objects that may be kickedup from the road, track, trail, or snow surfaces and madeairborne and, as such, likely to cause eye discomfort or injury
4、.This specification does not address shield-type eye protectorssuch as are connected to, integral to, and/or supported byprotective helmets. Protective eyewear offers protection only tothe eyes and does not protect other parts of the head, face, orneck.1.2 Protectors are divided into two types, gogg
5、les or spec-tacles, depending on their design characteristics.1.3 This specification does not apply to prescription eye-wear. (WarningImpact-resistant prescription spectacles thatconform to the standard specifications of ANSI Z87.1 shouldbe used if spectacles are to be worn under goggle-type eyewear
6、as covered by this specification.)1.4 In this specification, the use of the word “shall” indi-cates a mandatory requirement. The word “should” indicates arecommendation.1.5 UnitsThe values stated in SI units are to be regardedas the standard. The values given in parentheses are forinformation only.
