Scope1.1 This test method covers the determination of the loadcapacities for treestand fall arrest systems (FAS) and compo-nents or s
3、ubsystems.1.2 This test method addresses equipment used in huntingsituations requiring personal protection against falls fromheights and applies to the manufacturers, distributors, purchas-ers, and users of such equipment.1.3 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas standard. Terminology3.1 The terminology and definitions in the referenced do
6、cu-ments are applicable to this practice.3.2 Definitions:3.2.1 anchorage, na component/structure to which a FBHis attached to the tree trunk.3.2.2 climbing belt, na strap/belt (or system of straps)which is fastened about the person in a manner so as to containthe torso and stabilize the users horizo
7、ntal load while eitherworking from a vertical position to attach treestands, climbingdevices, and so forth, or during ascent/descent of tree or ladder.A FBH may be constructed to additionally serve this function.3.2.3 connecting hardware, nincludes snap hooks,D-rings, carabineers, links, anchorage h
8、ardware, and buckles.Any hardware that connects the FAS components in series,thus creating a linear linkage along which the maximum arrestforce (MAF) acts.3.2.4 fall arrest system (FAS), na system which is as-sembled for the purpose of arresting an accidental fall of itsuser.AFAS consists of a full
9、body harness, lanyard, anchoragemeans, and connecting hardware.3.2.5 full body harness (FBH), na component with adesign of straps which is fastened about the person in a mannerso as to contain the torso and distribute the fall arrest forcesover at least the upper thighs, pelvis, chest, and shoulders
10、 withmeans for attaching it to other components or subsystems.3.2.6 lanyards, na component consisting of a flexiblestrap, rope, or wire rope for connecting a component such as aFBH directly or indirectly to an anchorage.3.2.7 maximum arrest force, nthe maximum force actingon the body at the instant
11、of an arrest of its free fall.3.2.8 shock absorbers, na component used to reduce/absorb the energy gained by the user of the FAS when falling.3.2.9 thigh/leg straps, nthe straps, which are integratedwith the buttock strap (optional) and are routed from back tofront across the groin area or loop arou
12、nd the upper part of thethigh.3.2.10 treestand, na device designed to be affixed to a treeor its branches so as to permit an individual to sit or standthereon for the purpose of attaining an elevated position fromwhich to observe, photograph, or hunt.4. Summary of Test Method4.1 One system test shal
13、l consist of the testing of oneindividual fall arrest system unit for maximum arrest force(MAF) in accordance with the procedures in 7.1.4.2 One system test shall consist of the testing of oneindividual fall arrest system unit for performance in accordancewith the procedures in 7.2.4.3 One system te
14、st shall consist of testing one individualfall arrest system unit for dynamic strength in accordance withthe procedures in Section 8.1This test method is under the jurisdiction of ASTM Committee F08 on SportsEquipment and Facilities and is the direct responsibility of Subcommittee F08.16 onArchery P

17、 physicalproperties described in 6.3 or 6.4 shall be dropped from anadequate elevation to simulate a free-fall motion from atreestand platform.5. Significance and Use5.1 This test method is intended to measure the maximumarrest force and dynamic strength on treestand FAS andcomponents or subsystems.
18、 This test is intended for programquality assurance and production quality control purposes. It isnot intended to be an independent material or product accep-tance test.6. Apparatus6.1 A vertical, rigid, round wood pole shall be used tomount the test weight torso and fall arrest system (FAS) suchtha
19、t pole deflection is minimized during testing.6.2 The mounting pole diameter shall be 10 6 1 in. andshall have a minimum height necessary for free fall to meet theprovisions of 7.1.4, 7.2.4, 8.1.3, and 9.1.3.6.3 The test weight torso used during the performance testshall weigh 220 6 2 lb. The test w
20、eight torso shall be inaccordance with ANSI Z359.1, Appendix B, Figs. 18 and 19.6.4 The test weight torso used during the dynamic strengthtest shall weigh not less than 300 lb or shall equal the weightof the stated weight capacity of the test subject 63 lb, orwhichever is greater. The torso shall al
21、so be designed such thatit closely resembles the human shape and human center ofgravity.6.5 The test weight torso and test operator shall be raised tothe required elevation by means of a man lift, forklift/basket, orother device capable of providing means to ascend to theproper elevation and provide
22、 a stable and safe workingenvironment.6.6 The free fall may be induced by manual or automaticmeans, and shall accomplish an unobstructed, continuous freefall of the test weight torso.6.7 The instrumentation used to measure the MAF of theFAS should consist of a force sensor or load cell capable ofmea
23、suring peak loads up to 3375 lb (15 kN). The recordingdata channel shall have a minimum sampling rate of 1000samples per second and an active frequency response band upto a corner frequency of 100 Hz + 1.2 dB, 3 dB.7. Performance Test Procedure7.1 The following procedures shall apply to one individu
24、alunit of a given FAS with the test torso as given in 6.3 dropped“feet first.”7.1.1 Read instructions accompanying the test subject toascertain the proper procedure for use and donning. Secure theFAS anchorage to the mounting pole and the test torso inaccordance with the device manufacturers instruc
