1、Designation: F 2126 06An American National StandardStandard Test Method forTreestand Static Load Capacity1This standard is issued under the fixed designation F 2126; the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or, in the case of revision, the year of last
2、revision. A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval. Asuperscript epsilon (e) indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1. Scope1.1 This test method covers the determination of the staticload capacity of treestands in terms of a factor of safety relative
3、to the manufacturers rated capacity.1.2 The values stated are in inch-pound units and are to beregarded as the standard.1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns, if any, associated with its use. Summary of Test Method4.1 A climbing treestand is mounted so that its platform isperpendicular or slightly above hori
11、zontal to a rigid wood ormetal pole when the rated load is applied parallel to themounting pole. A fixed position or ladder treestand shall bemounted with the platform perpendicular to the mounting pole.A tripod stand shall be positioned so that the platform isperpendicular to the application of the
12、 load. A climbing stickshall be mounted such that the steps are perpendicular to thepole. The platform is equipped with deflection measurementdevices. The load is applied step-wise and recordings are madeof the load and deflection at each step until yielding orpermanent deflection occurs or until tw

Significance and Use5.1 This test method is intended for quality assurance andproduction control purposes.6. Apparatus6.1 A rigid round wood or metal pole, preferably vertical, isus

(254 mm),6 1 in. (25.4 mm).6.2 The load shall be applied using either calibrated weightsor a mechanical device in
17、conjunction with a calibrated loadcell.6.2.1 The use of calibrated weights requires that weightplacement be accurate to assure that the load applicationcentroid is coincident with the boundaries defined and meetsthe requirements as given in 6.4. Caution should be exercisedfor operator protection wit
18、h the use of weights in case ofslippage or premature failure.6.2.2 The use of a mechanical device such as a tensiletesting machine or hydraulic power, in combination withpulleys, fulcrums or bearings to re-direct forces, requires theuse of a calibrated load cell attached adjacent to the test subject
19、to account for friction losses.6.3 Calibrated deflection measuring devices (such as dialindicators or optical laser) shall be used to measure movementof the test subject under load. The accuracy of the measuringdevices shall be at within 0.010 in. (0.254 mm) and repeatablewithin 0.005 in. (0.127 mm)

The devices shall measuremovement parallel to the direction of the applied load and shallbe mounted in such a manner to eliminate deflection of the testapparatus and be placed, as a minimum, as follows:6.3.1 There shall be at least two measurements taken at theload; one on each side and 6 in. (152

(152.4 mm) from the mounting pole, one on each side
22、symmetrical with the test subject.6.4 The application of the load shall be at the centroid of theplatform area for standing platforms or the centroid of the usersload application area for handclimber (climbing aids).6.4.1 For standing platforms, the load shall be applied to thetest subject over one
