Scope1.1 This specification covers water well casing pipe andcouplings made from thermoplastic materials in standarddimension ratios (SDR), SCH 40 and SCH 80.1.2 Specifications are provided for the application of thesematerials to water well and ground water monitoring applica
4、-tions. Flush threaded joint systems are included for screen andcasing used primarily in the construction of ground watermonitoring wells (see Practice D 5092).1.3 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas the standard. The values given in parentheses are providedfor information onl
5、y IEEE/ASTM SI 10).NOTE 1Certain field conditions may require alternative materials toensure safe long-term use. The user should consult federal, state, and localcodes governing the use of thermoplastic materials for well casing ormonitor pipe.NOTE 2This standard specifies dimensional, performance a
6、nd testrequirements for plumbing and fluid handling applications, but does notaddress venting of combustion gases.1.4 Although the pipe sizes and SDR values listed in thisspecification are generally available, numerous other plasticpipes in Schedule 40 and 80 wall, other SDR values andvarious outsid
7、e diameters have been used for well casing. Suchproducts are often selected because they fulfill certain needsand Annex A1 includes a list of these Plastic Pipe Well CasingSpecials.1.5 The following safety hazards caveat pertains only to thetest method portion, Section 6, of this specification: This

The abbreviation for styrene-rubber isSR.3.2 Ground water investigation terms are in accordance withTerminology D 653.4. Classification4.1 Well casing is produced in either plain end, belled end,or threaded, and
21、is used for water wells, ground watermonitoring, leak detection, recovery systems, dewatering sys-tems, and waste disposal.5. Materials and Manufacture5.1 SpecificationThe material described shall meet orexceed the requirements of (1) Specification D 3965 for ABSwith a cell classification of 44322 o
22、r 33333, (2) SpecificationD 1784 for PVC with a cell classification of 12454 or 14333,or (3) Specification D 1892 for SR with a cell classification of4434A.The material so described shall be approved for potablewater.NOTE 3Caution should be exercised to control heat of hydrationduring grouting as th
23、ermoplastic materials are heat sensitive.Acceleratorstend to increase the heat of hydration and are not recommended.5.2 Acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) well casing pipeand couplings plastic shall be virgin plastic produced by theoriginal compounder (see Specification D 1527). The mini-mum buta
24、diene content is 6 %; the minimum acrylonitrilecontent is 15 %; the minimum styrene or substituted styrenecontent, or both, is 15 %; and the maximum content of othermonomers is 5 % and lubricants, stabilizers, and colorants.5.3 Poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) well casing pipe and cou-plings plastic shall
