Scope1.1 This test method evaluates the energy efficiency, energyconsumption and water heating performance of boo
3、ster heat-ers. The food service operator can use this evaluation to selecta booster heater and understand its energy consumption.1.2 This test method is applicable to electric, gas, and steampowered booster heaters.1.3 The booster heater can be evaluated with respect to thefollowing (where applicabl
4、e):1.3.1 Energy input rate (9.2).1.3.2 Pilot energy rate (9.3).1.3.3 Flow capacity rate, energy rate, and energy efficiencywith 110F (43.3C) and 140F (60.0C) supply to the boosterheater inlet (9.4).1.3.4 Thermostat calibration (9.5).1.3.5 Energy rate and energy efficiency at 50% of flowcapacity rate
5、 with 110F (43.3C) and 140F (60.0C) supplyto the booster heater inlet (9.6).1.3.6 Preheat energy and time (9.7). The preheat test is notapplicable to booster heaters built without water storage andwill not have auxiliary water storage connected to the boosterheater to complete the water heating syst

Terminology3.1 Definitions:3.1.1 booster heater, na water heater that raises thebooster heater inl
10、et water supply temperature (typically 110Fto 140F (43.3C to 60C) to 180F (82.2C) or more toprovide high temperature sanitizing rinse water for a dish-washer machine.3.1.2 dishwasher machine, n(hereafter referred to as dish-washer) machine that uniformly washes, rinses, and heatsanitizes eating and
11、drinking utensils. The machine shall becapable of removing physical soil from properly racked andpre-scraped items, and sanitizing multi-use eating and drinkingutensils.3.1.3 uncertainty, nmeasure of systematic and precisionerrors in specified instrumentation or measure of repeatabilityof a reported

18、rom the booster heater to thedishwasher.3.2.5 continuous water flowuninterrupted water deliveryby a booster heater at a specified flow rate. This is a typicalmode of water delivery of a booster heater supplying water toa conveyor or rack-less conveyor (flight) type dishwashermachine.3.2.6 energy rat
19、eaverage rate of energy consumption(Btu/h or kW, (kJ/h) during the continuous flow tests.3.2.7 energy input ratepeak rate at which a booster heaterconsumes energy (Btu/h or kW, (kJ/h).3.2.8 flow capacity energy ratepeak rate at which abooster heater consumes energy (Btu/h or kW, (kJ/h) duringthe flo

Refers to maximum energy rate whilemaximum flow capacity rate is supplied.3.2.9 flow capacitymaximum water flow rate (gal/min,gal/h, (L/h) at which the booster heater can heat water from aspecified inlet temperature to an outlet temperature of 183 63F (83.9 6 1.7) during the contin
21、uous flow capacity test.3.2.10 pilot energy rateaverage rate of energy consump-tion (Btu/h) by a booster heaters continuous pilot (if appli-cable).3.2.11 primary supplythe service water heater system thatsupplies water to the booster heater under test.3.2.12 thermal effciency, nquantity of energy im
22、parted tothe water, expressed as a percentage of energy consumed bythe element(s), gas burner(s), steam coil(s), and steam injec-tor(s) during the flow capacity tests. Thermal efficiency data iscollected during the continuous flow capacity tests.4. Summary of Test MethodNOTE 1An energy supply meetin
23、g the manufacturers specificationshall be provided for the gas, electric, or steam booster heater under test.4.1 The booster heater under test is connected to theappropriate metered energy supply. The measured energy inputrate is determined and checked against the rated input beforecontinuing with t
24、esting.4.2 Pilot energy rate is determined, when applicable, for gasbooster heaters.4.3 Flow capacity, energy rate and energy efficiency of thebooster for continuous water flow is determined with thebooster heater inlet water supplied at 110+03 F (43.3+01.7C) and 140+03 F (60.0+01.7 C).4.4 Flow rate
