3、1.1 This specification covers metal insert fittings and coppercrimp rings for use with cross-linked polyethylene (PEX)tubing in38 ,12 ,58 ,34 ,1,114 ,112 , and 2 in. nominaldiameters that meet the requirements for Specifications F876and F877and for use with polyethylene of raised temperature(PE-RT)

4、tubing in38 ,12 ,58 ,34 and 1 in. and 114 in. nominaldiameters that meet the requirements of Specifications F2623and F2769. These fittings are intended for use in 100 psi (689.5kPa) cold- and hot-water distribution systems operating attemperatures up to, and including, 180F (82C). The require-ments

5、for materials, workmanship, dimensions, and markingsto be used on the fittings and rings are also included.1.2 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas the standard. The values given in parentheses are mathemati-cal conversions to SI units which are provided for informationonly and

General Requirements6.1 When fittings manufactured acco

26、rding to this specifica-tion are intended for use with the PEX tubing, the followingsections of Specification F877 constitute a part of this specifi-cation.6.1.1 Requirements,6.1.2 Test Methods, and6.1.3 Retest and Rejection.6.2 In addition, when a section with a title identical to thatreferenced in

27、 6.1 appears in this specification, it containsadditional requirements that supplement those appearing inSpecification F877.6.3 When fittings manufactured according to this specifica-tion are intended for use with PE-RT tubing, the followingsections of Specification F2769 constitute a part of thissp

28、ecification:6.3.1 Requirements,6.3.2 Test Methods, and6.3.3 Retest and Rejection.6.4 In addition, when a section with a title identical to thatreferenced in 6.3 appears in this specification, it containsadditional requirements that supplement those appearing inSpecification F2769.6.5 DimensionsAny r

29、andomly selected fitting or fittings,and crimp ring or crimp rings, shall be used to determinedimensions. Measurements shall be made in accordance withTest Method D2122, except when determining diameters,which is done by making measurements at four locationsspaced approximately 45 apart around the c

30、ircumference.Inspection and gauging of solder joint ends shall be inaccordance with ASME B16.18, ASME B16.22,orMSSSP-104.6.6 GeneralAll performance tests shall be performed onassemblies of fittings, crimp rings, and PEX tubing or PE-RTtubing. Fittings and crimp rings shall meet the material anddimen

31、sional requirements of this specification. PEX tubingshall meet the requirements of Specifications F876 or F877.PE-RT tubing shall meet the requirements of SpecificationF2769.Assembly of test specimens shall be in accordance with9.1.1. Dimensions7.1 Dimensions and TolerancesThe dimensions and tol-erances of fittings and crimp rings shall be as shown in Fig. 1,Fig. 2, Fig. 3, and Fig. 4, when measured in accordance with6.5

35、readed EndsFitting threads shall beright-hand conforming to ASME B1.20.1. They shall be taperthreads (NPT).8. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance8.1 The sealing surfaces of the insert shall be smooth andfree of foreign material. Fitting walls shall be free of cracks,holes, blisters, voids, foreign i

36、nclusions, or other defects thatare visible to the unaided eye and affect the wall integrity.9. Assembly9.1 Crimp JointsInsert fittings shall be joined to PEXtubing or PE-RT tubing by the compression of a copper crimpring around the outer circumference of the tubing, forcing thetubing material into

37、annular spaces formed by ribs on thefitting. Insert fittings and crimp rings shall meet the dimen-sional and material requirements of this standard. PEX tubingshall meet the requirements of Specifications F876 or F877.PE-RT tubing shall meet the requirements of SpecificationF2769. The dimensions and

38、 out-of-roundness of the crimp ring,after it has been crimped, shall be in accordance with Table 1.9.1.1 Crimping ProcedureThe crimping procedure shallbe as follows: slide the crimp ring onto the tubing, insert theribbed end of the fitting into the end of the tubing until thetubing contacts the shou

39、lder of the fitting or tube stop. Forfitting sizes38 to 114 in. the crimp ring shall then be positionedon the tubing so the edge of the crimp ring is18 to14 in. (3.2to 6.4 mm) from the end of the tube. For 112 in. fitting size thecrimp ring shall be positioned14 to38 in. (6.4 to 9.5 mm) fromthe end

40、of tube. For 2 in. fitting size the crimp ring shall bepositioned38 to12 in. (9.5 to 12.7 mm) from the end of thetube. The jaws of the crimping tool shall be centered over thecrimp ring and the tool shall be held so that the crimping jawsare approximately perpendicular to the axis of the barb. Theja

41、ws of the crimping tool shall be closed around the crimp ring,compressing the crimp ring onto the tubing. The crimp ringshall not be crimped more than once. 49、a manner that it remains legible afterinstallation and inspection.10.2 Content of Marking:10.2.1 Marking on fittings shall include manufacturersname or trademark, or some other identifying mark, and if sizepermits, PEX/PE-RT or the ASTM standard number, or acombination thereof.10.2.1.1 Where recessed marking is used on fittings, careshall be taken to see that the marking shall not cause cracks orreduce the wall thickness below the minimum specified.10.2.2 Marking on packaging shall include manufactu
