3、nability in the meeting and eventindustry. It is a tool for event planners and suppliers to understand the attributes of an environmentallysustainable meeting. The goal in developing this specification is to establish common benchmarks forenvironmental performance in meetings and events for both pla

4、nner and supplier sectors. Thisspecification considers the creation of an environmentally sustainable meeting or event to be apartnership between meeting planners and their suppliers. Each plays a critical role in the effort.In this specification, options are addressed for minimizing the environment

5、al impact of face-to-facemeetings. The approach of this specification is to focus on measurable outcomes and policies forplanners and suppliers. This maximizes the ability of businesses to select the methods best tailored totheir needs to achieve benchmarks and measurable outcomes.1. Scope1.1 This s

6、pecification delineates procedural requirementsfor evaluating and selecting transportation for use in meetings,events, trade shows, and conferences (hereafter referred to asevents).1.2 Transportation for events includes, but is not limited to,the following activities: transporting participants to/fr

7、om con-ference related events, transporting participants between con-ference facilities and hotels, and transportation of materials.This specification focuses primarily on the reduction of carbonemissions from transport-related activity arising from events.1.3 This specification identifies environme

8、ntal sustainabilitycriteria to be included in the selection of transportation byplanners or destination management companies. This specifi-cation also identifies criteria for transportation companies.1.4 Transportation companies include bus, charter, limou-sine, airlines, freight forwarders, taxi, f

9、erry boat, van pool, railand ground operators, and rental car agencies.1.5 There are nine specifications covering the followingareas of event planning: destination selection, accommoda-tions, food and beverage, audio visual, onsite offices, commu-nication and marketing materials, transportation, exh

10、ibits, andvenues. Within each specification are eight categories criteria:staff management policy, communications, waste management,energy, air quality, water, procurement, and community part-ners. Each category is further split into four progressive levelsof achievement. Information is presented as

11、 follows: Informa-tion within each specification is divided as follows: MainBodyScope, Referenced Documents, Terminology, PlannerRequirements for Level 1, Supplier Requirements for Level 1,and Keywords; AnnexesPlanner Requirements for Lev-els24andSupplier Requirements for Levels24.1.6 All areas of p

12、erformance under this specification maynot be relevant for each event, or for each facility or providerof event services. In some cases, an event planner would usethis specification in conjunction with other specification (forexample, Specifications E2774, E2742) or this specificationmay be used ind

In other words, elements of an eventmay be separated out and considered solely, or added togetherand considered as a unit (for example, venues used individuallyversus transportation, accommodations, and destination selec-tion used in conjunction). Furthermore, this specificationapplies se

14、parately to each supplier for an event. This means ifmultiple suppliers are used within the context of a singlespecification, each supplier must individually meet the supplierrequirements. To be considered an environmentally sustainableevent at Level 1, all areas applicable to that event shall beach

The idea behind the levels is to provide a coherentbaseline for measuring environmental performance, to beflexible enough to adapt to the needs of more advancedplanners and to establish a performance path that encouragesfurther environmental performance improvement.

18、In addition,the evolution of products and services to support events isexpected, allowing additional advancements and underscoringthe dynamic nature of environmental sustainability. This speci-fication primarily focuses on environmental sustainability,while some aspects of economic and social sustai

19、nability areincluded recognizing the complete path toward overall sustain-ability.1.9 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas standard. 44、 Level 1 Requirements4.1 Planner Performance Requirements:4.1.1 Staff Management Policy:4.1.1.1 The planner shall have a written environmentalsustainability policy for its organization, available for stake-holder review, documenting a vision, objectives and goals forsustainability that addresses all

45、 the applicable environmentalcharacteristics as described in this specification (staff manage-ment policy, communications, waste management, energy, airquality, water, procurement, and community partners).4.1.1.2 The planner shall have written environmental objec-tives and performance criteria relat

46、ed to the specific event thataddress all the applicable environmental characteristics asdescribed in this specification (staff management policy, com-munications, waste management, energy, air quality, water,procurement, and community partners) related to the specificevent, and include these objecti

47、ves in the RFPs4.1.1.3 The planner shall designate one or more staff mem-bers to implement the environmental sustainability initiativesrelated to the transportation components of the event.4.1.1.4 The planner shall have a no-idling program.4.1.2 Communications:4.1.2.1 The planner shall maintain reco

48、rds of all environ-mental efforts, and shall make those records available tostakeholders and for reference for planning future events.4.1.2.2 The planner shall ensure all appropriate personnelare made aware of and can communicate effectively theenvironmental policy of both the planner and supplier.4

49、.1.2.3 The planner shall circulate no-idle (of motor ve-hicles) flyers to all applicable service providers.
