Scope1.1 This practice covers the establishing of procedures toinspect firestop products and firestop systems, including meth-ods for field verification an
3、d inspection.NOTE 1This practice is referenced in the International Building Code,Chapter 17, Special Inspections.1.2 This practice addresses all types of firestop products thatbecome firestop systems once installed to the tested and listedsystem or judgment into fire resistive assemblies.NOTE 2Fire
4、stop System is defined in Test Method E814. Firestopproducts are the products used in constructing a firestop system.1.3 This practice provides methods by which qualifiedinspectors verify that required firestops on a project have beeninstalled and that their installations are in accordance with thei
5、nspection documents.1.4 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematicalconversions to SI units that are provided for information onlyand are not considered standard.1.5 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety co

19、firestop manufacturers product data, adesign listing of the tested firestop system or the engineeringjudgment design with illustrated drawings or descriptive text orboth for the purpose of verifying each installation and conduct-ing the field-inspection procedures.3.2.6 inspection formthe document c
20、ontained in this stan-dard practice that is used to record information obtained duringthe inspection(s).3.2.7 inspectoran individual meeting the qualifications setforth in this document and who performs the inspection.3.2.8 judgmentan evaluation of a field condition whichdoes not conform to an exist
21、ing tested and listed system.3.2.8.1 DiscussionJudgments are expected to be issued bya manufacturer or an accredited testing laboratory on the basisof an appropriate combination of engineering principles andtesting.3.2.8.2 DiscussionThe judgment is commonly referred toas an “Engineering Judgment” in
22、 the firestopping industry.These judgments are not always issued by engineers.3.2.8.3 DiscussionSome AHJs allow a judgment by themanufacturer if there is no tested and listed system for thenon-typical condition, others do not. Most AHJs will allowjudgments by accredited testing laboratories.3.2.9 li
23、sting labelidentification applied to the product thatincludes the name of a quality assurance agency indicating thata representative sample of the product or material has beentested and evaluated by the quality assurance agency.3.2.10 quality assurance agencya company that is en-gaged in conducting
24、inspections, or certification, or listing andlabeling services, or any combination, and possessing a validevaluation report for quality assurance and is recognized by theAHJ.4.
