Scope1.1 This test method covers a procedure for determiningextreme pressure properties of solid bonded films underhigh-frequency linear-oscillation motion using the SRV testmachine.1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded asstandard. Summary of Test Method4.1 This test method is performed on an SRV test machineusing a steel test ball oscillating against a steel test disk withlubricant between them. Test load is increased in 100-Nincrements until seizure occurs. The load, immediat
21、ely prior tothe load at which seizure occurs, is measured and reported.NOTE 1Test frequency, stroke length, temperature, and ball and diskmaterial can be varied to simulate field conditions. The test ball yieldspoint-contact geometry. To obtain line or area contact, test pieces ofdiffering configura
22、tions can be substituted for the test balls.5. Significance and Use5.1 This laboratory test method can be used to quicklydetermine extreme pressure properties of parts coated withsolid bonded films at selected temperatures specified for use inunlubricated applications where high-speed vibrational or
23、 start-stop motions are present with high Hertzian point contact. Thistest method has found wide application in qualifying solidbonded films used in automotive door lock mechanisms, hingejoints, bolts, and in aerospace. This test method is a materialand application oriented approach for characterizi
24、ng the tribo-logical behaviour using random, discrete and constant param-eter combinations Users of this test method should determinewhether results correlate with field performance or otherapplications.6.
