Scope1.1 This specification covers the requirements for recycledethylene glycol base engine coolant conc
3、entrate and recycledpropylene glycol base engine coolant concentrate for use inautomobiles and light-duty vehicles. Committee D15 hasdeveloped this specification using experience, knowledge andresearch from recycling used aqueous base engine coolant andblends of used aqueous base engine coolant and
4、virgin glycol.This standard does not apply to coolant produced from otherglycol sources such as medical waste, distillation bottoms,airplane/airport deicers and polyester production waste. Thisspecification provides a procedure for evaluating engine cool-ant recycling technologies through the recycl
5、ing of a referencesynthetic used engine coolant. It also specifies the chemical,physical, and performance requirements for the recycled glycolbase engine coolant concentrate that is produced from thatprocedure. When used at 40 to 70 volume % in water, it willfunction effectively during both winter a
6、nd summer. Thismaterial is intended to provide protection against freezing,boiling, and corrosion in automobile or other light-duty servicecooling systems.1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as thestandard. The values given in parentheses are approximateequivalents and provided for

21、1 Storage Stability and Compatibil-ity63. Reagents and Materials3.1 Purity of ReagentsReagent grade chemicals shall beused in all tests. Unless otherwise indicated, it is intended thatall reagents conform to the specifications of the Committee onAnalytical Reagents of the American Chemical Society w
22、heresuch specifications are available7. Other grades may be used,provided it is first ascertained that the reagent is of sufficientlyhigh purity to permit its use without lessening the accuracy ofthe determination.3.2 Purity of WaterUnless otherwise indicated, referencesto water shall be understood
23、to mean reagent water as definedby Type IV of Specification D 1193.4. Procedure4.1 In order to properly evaluate a coolant recycling tech-nology, a reference synthetic used coolant (Annex A1)istobeused as the feed stock. The reference synthetic used coolantshall be prepared in accordance with Annex
24、A1. An appropri-ately sized batch of reference synthetic used coolant is to beprepared and used to purge the recycling process componentsand yield enough consistent product to complete the testingspecified within this specification4.2 Prepare the coolant recycling equipment or technologyin accordanc
