Scope1.1 This guide covers sampling for prebaked carbon anodesused in the production of aluminum, and d
3、etails procedures fortaking test samples from anode blocks. It covers equipment andprocedures for obtaining samples from anode blocks in amanner that does not destroy the block or prevent its subse-quent use as originally intended. However, the user mustdetermine the subsequent use of the sampled an
4、ode blocks.Preferred locations for taking samples from single units ofanodes are covered in this guide.1.1.1 Information for sampling of shaped refractory prod-ucts, in general, is given in ISO 5022. This standard details thestatistical basis for sampling plans for acceptance testing of aconsignment
5、 or lot. Anodes used in the production of alumi-num have specific requirements for sampling and while thestatistical basis for sampling given in ISO 5022 applies, furtheror modified requirements may also apply.1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded asstandard. No other units of measure

Terminology3.1 Definitions of Terms Specific to This Standard:3.1.1 block, na carbon anode, a single unit.3.1.2 prebaked, na baked carbon article or
11、block.3.1.3 sample, nthe portion of carbon obtained from ananode.3.1.4 test specimen, nan article prepared from a sample.4. Significance and Use4.1 Core sampling is an acceptable way of obtaining a testspecimen without destroying the usefulness of an anode block.4.1.1 Test specimen obtained by this
12、guide can be used byproducers and users of carbon anodes for the purpose ofconducting the tests in Note 1 to obtain comparative physicalproperties.4.2 Sampling shall not weaken the anode or increase thelikelihood of premature failure.1This guide is under the jurisdiction of ASTM Committee D02 on Pet
