3、Low Strength Material (CLSM) to with-stand loading by repeatedly dropping a metal weight onto thein-place material.1.2 All observed and calculated values shall conform to theguidelines for significant digits and rounding established inPractice D6026.1.2.1 The procedures used to specify how data are
4、collected/recorded and calculated in the standard are regarded as theindustry standard. In addition, they are representative of thesignificant digits that generally should be retained. The proce-dures used do not consider material variation, purpose forobtaining the data, special purpose studies, or
5、 any consider-ations for the users objectives; and it is common practice toincrease or reduce significant digits of reported data to becommensurate with these considerations. It is beyond the scopeof these test methods to consider significant digits used inanalysis methods for engineering data.1.3 U
6、nitsThe values stated in either SI units or inch-pound units presented in brackets are to be regarded separatelyas standard. The values stated in each system shall be usedindependently of the other. Combining values from the twosystems may result in non-conformance with the standard.1.4 CLSM is also
7、 known as flowable fill, controlled densityfill, soil-cement slurry, soil-cement grout, unshrinkable fill,“K-Krete,” and other similar names.1.5 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is theresponsibility of the user of this standard
8、to establish appro-priate safety and health practices and determine the applica-bility of regulatory limitations prior to use. Summary of Test Method4.1 A half spherical weight is dropped five times from aspecific height onto t
17、he surface of in-place CLSM. Thediameter of the resulting indentation is measured and comparedto established criteria. The indentation is inspected for any freewater brought to the surface from the impact.5. Significance and Use5.1 This test method is used primarily as a field test todetermine the r
18、eadiness of the CLSM to accept loads prior toadding a temporary or permanent wearing surface.5.2 This test method is not meant to predict the load bearingstrength of a CLSM mixture.5.3 This test is one of a series of quality control tests thatcan be performed on CLSM during construction to monitorco
19、mpliance with specification requirements. The other teststhat can be used during construction control are Test MethodsD4832, D6023, and D6103.NOTE 1The quality of the result produced by this standard isdependent on the competence of the personnel performing it, and thesuitability of the equipment an
20、d facilities used. Agencies that meet thecriteria of Practice D3740 are generally considered capable of competentand objective testing/sampling/inspection/and the like. Users of thisstandard are cautioned that compliance with Practice D3740 does not initself assure reliable results. Reliable results
21、 depend on many factors;Practice D3740 provides a means of evaluating some of those factors.6. Apparatus6.1 Ball-drop ApparatusA Ball Penetration Apparatus(Kelly Ball) that consists of a half sphere with a handle,together weighing 14-15 kg 30-33 lb. The half sphericalweight may be machined from meta
22、l stock or cast or spun witha smooth finish and shall have a radius of 73 mm 2.875 in. to79 mm 3.125 in. A stirrup or frame approximately 270 mm10.5 in. wide and approximately 140 mm 5.5 in. high shallguide the handle such that the Kelly Ball falls freely andperpendicular to the surface being tested
