Terminology3.1 Definitions of Terms Specific to This Standard:3.1.1 certification, nthe written d
8、ocumentation of thequalification of personnel or material.3.1.2 coating applicator, nan organization or individualresponsible for applying a protective or decorative coatingsystem.3.1.3 coating manufacturer, nan organization responsiblefor manufacturing coating materials.3.1.4 coating system, na pol
9、ymeric protective film con-sisting of one or more coats, applied in a predetermined orderby prescribed methods.3.1.5 coating work, nan all-inclusive term to define alloperations required to accomplish a complete coating job. Theterm shall be construed to include materials, equipment, labor,preparati
10、on of surfaces, control of ambient conditions, appli-cation and repair of coating systems, and inspection.3.1.6 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), nthe rules andregulations of the United States Federal Government. The codeis subdivided into titles, with Title 10 (10 CFR) applying toenergy.3.1.7 pain
11、tings/coatings/linings, nessentially synony-mous terms for liquid-applied materials consisting of pigmentsand fillers bound in a resin matrix, which dry or cure to forma thin, continuous protective or decorative film. “Linings”indicate an immersion environment.3.1.8 deviation, na departure of a char

Examples of nonconformancesinclude: physical defects, test failures, incorrect or inadequatedocumentation, or deviation from prescribed processing, in-spection, or test procedures.3.1.13 owner, nthe person, group, company, or corpora-
19、tion who has or will have the license for the facility orinstallation.3.1.14 owners designee, na person or persons authorizedby the owner to act in his behalf.3.1.15 vendor, nany individual or organization who fur-nishes items or service to a procurement document.4. Significance and Use4.1 Quality a
20、ssurance, as covered by this practice, com-prises all those planned and systematic actions necessary toprovide adequate confidence that safety-related coating work innuclear facilities as defined in Guide D 5144, will performsatisfactorily in service.4.2 It is not practical to impose all the require
21、ments of thispractice on certain specific items that require only a smallquantity of coating material. The owner, consistent with hisformal Quality Assurance Program, may accept affidavits ofcompliance or certification attesting to the quality of a shop orfield coating for such items. If required by
22、 licensing commit-ment; safety-related coatings that are not qualified or for whichthe quantification basis is indeterminate as defined in GuideD 5144, shall be identified, quantified, and documented.4.3 This practice may be incorporated in a project specifi-cation by direct reference or may be used
23、 to provide guidelinesfor the quality assurance program for coatings, on the basis ofthe owners requirements. Effective use of this practice mayalso require the incorporation of applicable sections in projectspecifications for coatings on concrete, steel, equipment, andother related items.5. General
24、 Quality Assurance Requirements5.1 This section defines the general quality assurance re-quirements necessary for compliance with this practice. Theserequirements shall apply to all other sections of this practice.5.2 The owner or the owners designee shall be responsiblefor determining whether sourc
