Scope*1.1 This specification covers plastic ins
3、ert fittings for poly-ethylene (PE) plastic pipe, and also PVC insert fittings for PEto PVC pipe transitions. Included are requirements formaterials, workmanship, dimensions, and burst pressure.1.2 The text of this specification references notes, footnotes,and appendixes which provide explanatory ma

11、ss of fittings suitable foruse with PE plastic pipe that meet the requirements ofapplicable ASTM specifications, at present, this is Specifica-tion D2239.4.2 This specification also covers fittings that transitionfrom PE plastic pipe to Socket Type IPS PVC plastic pipe.5. Materials5.1 Types of Plast
12、icsThe fittings shall be made from oneof the following plastics:5.1.1 Nylon plastics (NP) meeting the requirements ofeither Type I or Type II (except Grade 2A) in Test MethodsD789.1This specification is under the jurisdiction of ASTM Committee F17 on PlasticPiping Systems and is the direct responsib

United States15.1.2 Propylene plastic (PP) with a minimum tensilestrength at yield of 24.0 MPa (3410 psi) when tested inaccordance with Test Method D638 at a speed of 51 mm/
16、min(2.0 in./min), an Izod impact resistance at 23C of at least 30J/m (0.6 ftlbf/in.) when tested in accordance with Method Aof Test Methods D256, and a minimum deflection temperatureof 64C at 455 KPa stress when tested in accordance with TestMethod D648.5.1.3 Poly(vinyl chloride) plastics (PVC) meet
17、ing the re-quirements of 12454 or 14333, in Specification D1784.5.2 Rework MaterialThe manufacturers shall use onlytheir own clean rework fitting material and the fittings pro-duced shall meet all the requirements of this specification. Thetypes of materials specified in 5.1 shall not be mixed with
18、oneanother.6. Requirements6.1 Dimensions and TolerancesThe dimensions and toler-ances shall be as shown in Tables 1-3 when measured inaccordance with 8.4. The negative tolerance on all minimumdimensions is zero.6.1.1 AlignmentThe alignment of all openings of fittingsshall be within14 in./ft.6.1.2 Fi
19、ttings Not IllustratedAll fittings, whether illus-trated in Tables 1-3 or not, shall have insert ends in accordancewith Table 1 or threaded ends in accordance with Table 3. Forinsert ends, which have more than four barbs, the first fourbarbs, starting from the open end of the fitting connection, sha
20、llmeet all requirements of Table 1. The remaining barbs shallalso meet Table 1, with the exception that mold marks left asa result of the manufacturing process, such as ejector pinmarks, are exempt from the “V” dimension requirement, andthe minimum requirement for “Z.” D, Zmax, and F apply in allcas
21、es. For designs where the entire fitting end is barbed, suchas “F” cannot be readily measured, “F” shall be calculated as(Z2V)D/2.6.1.3 ThreadsFor all fittings having taper pipe threads,threads shall conform to Specification F1498 and be gaged inaccordance with 8.6.6.1.4 Fittings that transition fro
