3、pe1.1 This specification covers polyethylene (PE) pipe madein standard thermoplastic pipe dimension ratios and pressurerated for water (see appendix). Included are criteria forclassifying PE plastic pipe materials and PE plastic pipe, asystem of nomenclature for PE plastic pipe, and requirementsand
4、test methods for materials, workmanship, dimensions,sustained pressure, burst pressure, and environmental stresscracking. 17、 in.),t = minimum wall thickness, mm (or in.), andR = standard thermoplastic pipe dimension ratio (Di/t forPE pipe), also known as SIDR.3.2.4 standard thermoplastic pipe dimension ratio (SIDR)the ratio of pipe diameter to wall thickness. For PE pipe it iscalculated by dividing the average inside dia
18、meter of the pipein millimetres or in inches by the minimum wall thickness inmillimetres or in inches. If the wall thickness calculated by thisformula is less than 1.52 mm (0.060 in.), it shall be arbitrarilyincreased to 1.52 mm. The SIDR values shall be rounded to thenearest 0.1.3.2.5 standard ther
19、moplastic pipe materials designationcodethe pipe materials designation code shall consist of theabbreviation PE for the type of plastic, followed by the ASTMgrade in Arabic numerals and the hydrostatic design stress inunits of 100 psi with any decimal figures dropped. Where thehydrostatic design str
20、ess code contains less than two figures, acipher shall be used before the number. Thus a completematerial code shall consist of two letters and four figures for PEplastic pipe materials (see Section 5).4. Pipe Classification4.1 GeneralThis specification covers PE pipe made fromfour PE plastic pipe m
21、aterials in six standard dimension ratiosand six water pressure ratings.4.2 Standard Thermoplastic Pipe Dimension Ratios(SIDR)This specification covers PE pipe in six standarddimension ratios, namely, 5.3, 7, 9, 11.5, 15, and 19. These arereferred to as SIDR 5.3, SIDR 7, SIDR 9, SIDR 11.5, SIDR 15,a
22、nd SIDR 19, respectively. The pressure rating is uniform forall nominal pipe sizes for a given PE pipe material and SIDR(see Table X1.1, appendix).5. Materials5.1 GeneralPolyethylene plastics used to make pipemeeting the requirements of this specification are categorizedby means of two criteria, nam
23、ely, (1) short-term strength tests,and (2) long-term strength tests.5.2 Basic MaterialsThis specification covers PE pipemade from four PE plastics as defined in Specification D 1248,in which the requirements are based on short-term tests. Theseare Grade P 14, Grade P 23, Grade P 24, Grade P 33, andG
24、rade P 34. The PE plastics can also be described in accor-dance with the appropriate cell classification as defined inSpecification D 3350. The 80C sustained pressure perfor-mance requirements of 6.8.3 (pipe test category in Table 1) arenot currently in PE material Specifications D 1248 or D 3350.To
